After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.

Drive that truck on to Memphis tune those guitars back up
What we really love is playin' rollin' never slowin' down
But tonight I feel like stayin' I kind of like this little town
And I'm not ready to pack it up yet if you don't have to go
Let's make this a night we'll never forget
There's time for one more one more for the road
Tonight the lights feel like heaven makes me want to give it all I got
That's what I do for a livin' am I lucky or what
And I'm not ready...
[ piano ]
What we really love is playin' rollin' never slowin' down
But tonight I feel like stayin' I kind of like this little town
And I'm not ready to pack it up yet if you don't have to go
I'd like to stay here and pick one with Chet
There's time for one more one more for the road

Suzy Bogguss's song "One More For The Road" is a reflective meditation on life as a traveling musician. The song opens with the singer addressing the practical matters of packing up the equipment and preparing to leave town. However, as she reflects on the moment, she realizes that she is growing attached to this little town and would like to stay a bit longer. The singer acknowledges the paradox of life as a musician, feeling both lucky to have the opportunity to perform for a living and yet also feeling a deep longing for the stability of a hometown.
The lyrics ultimately suggest that life on the road can be exhilarating and rewarding, but there is also a price to be paid for such a transient lifestyle. The line "What we really love is playin' rollin' never slowin' down" underscores this point, illustrating the constant movement of life on tour. Yet, the singer also realizes that there are moments to be cherished, such as the chance to play with fellow musicians like Chet. The phrase "one more for the road" takes on a poignant double meaning here, suggesting both the desire for another drink and the desire to keep traveling, but also hinting at the inevitability of moving on.
