After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.

Lost in a dream of my own little world
But I truly do believe that dreams can come true
You won't come to be, so tonight I've come to you.
If I give my love to you like a woman can,
Will you take it like a man?
Sometimes I think that you are only running scared
And I could never prove your heart is safe with me
All that I can do is ask you to believe.
If I give my love to you like a woman can,
Will you take it like a man?
In your heart I think you realize
I can be everything you see when you close your eyes
If I give my love to you like a woman can,
Will you take it like a man?...
The song "Take It Like A Man" by Suzy Bogguss talks about a woman who is trying to convince her lover that she is ready to give her love to him and is willing to go to any length to make him believe in her love. She starts the verse by relaying how sometimes he views her as a little girl lost in her own dreams, but she believes that dreams can come true. She continues on to say that although she has been waiting for him to come to her, she has decided to take the bold step to come to him instead. She then directly asks him if he will take her love like a man if she gives it to him in the way a woman can.
In the second verse, she admits to sensing that her lover is cautious, probably because he's afraid of giving his heart away. She expresses her love for him and her strong desire to make him understand that her heart is safe with him. She concludes by urging him to believe her, as she is willing to be everything he's ever wanted in a woman. The chorus of the song reinforces her question, with her asking whether he will take her love like a man.
Overall, the song is about a woman trying to persuade her lover to reciprocate her love and trust her with his heart. She believes that by offering her love in the way that only a woman can, he will come to see her worth and accept her love.
