After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.
Take It To The Limit

And the bright lights have faded to blue
I was thinking 'bout a woman who might have
Loved me and I never knew
You know I've always been a dreamer
(Spent my life running 'round)
And it's so hard to change
(Can't seem to settle down)
Keep on turning out and burning out
And turning out the same
So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time
You can spend all your time making money
You can spend all your love making time
If it all fell to pieces tomorrow
Would you still be mine?
And when you're looking for your freedom
(Nobody seems to care)
And you can't find the door
(Can't find it anywhere)
When there's nothing to believe in
Still you're coming back, you're running back
For more
So put me on a highway
And show me a sign
And take it to the limit one more time
Take it to the limit
Take it to the limit
Take it to the limit one more time
The song “Take it to the Limit” by Suzy Bogguss is a cover of the hit song by The Eagles. The song is about a man who has lived his life dreaming and trying to find himself. He reminisces about lost loves and opportunities, realizing that he may have missed out on something great. He’s now alone, watching the city lights fade into a cold blue, and he wishes he had someone who loved him, someone he never knew. He’s a dreamer, always running around and unable to settle down. His dreams never seem to come true and he’s tired of constantly burning out.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the idea of pushing oneself to the limit, taking risks and living without regret. The man wants to be put on a highway and shown a sign, to be given another chance to take risks and to find something meaningful. He believes in the idea of living life to the fullest, even if it means risking everything. The song takes a romantic turn in the second verse, as the man wonders if his love would still be there if he lost everything. It’s a reflection on the importance of love and how it’s the only thing that really matters.

Big Eagles fan here and this song is one of my least liked but Suzy knocked out of the park and love it. Same for Linda Ronstadt with Desperado.
