After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.
Train Of Thought

There is only one thing I can hold on to
I see pictures in my head replaying every word you said
Every memory's like a thread running through
Everything I do, leads me straight to you
This train of thought keeps coming back
It must be on a one-way track
Just picks up steam
And I can't get off this train of thought
I've tried everything I swear
Television, solitaire
But all I do is sit and stare, dusk 'til dawn
I don't know where this heart is bound
The wheels keep turning 'round and 'round
I don't see 'em slowin' down
Not as long as I hear this song
Playing on and on
This train of thought keeps coming back
It must be on a one-way track
It never stops
Just picks up steam
And I can't get off this train of though
This train of thought keeps coming back
It must be on a one-way track
It never stops
Just picks up steam
And I can't get off this train of though
No, I can't get off this train of thought
The lyrics to Suzy Bogguss's song "Train Of Thought" speak to the persistence of memories and thoughts about a past relationship. The singer finds themselves unable to escape the memories of their former lover, as their mind constantly replays every word and interaction. The imagery of "little towns and neon signs" fading away suggests that the distractions of daily life are overshadowed by the overwhelming presence of this person in their thoughts.
The phrase "every memory's like a thread running through everything I do" highlights the deep impact this relationship has had on the singer's life. It's as if all their actions and experiences are connected to this person, as though they can't escape the influence they had on their life.
The metaphor of a train of thought is used to convey the relentlessness and inevitability of these memories. The train keeps coming back and is on a one-way track, symbolizing the inability to stop or forget about these thoughts. Despite trying various distractions like television and solitaire, the thoughts keep returning, leaving the singer feeling stuck and unable to move on.
