After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.
Wild Horses

I watched him as ran.
Driven by a freedom
Most people never understand.
Now, they've built a fence around him.
But, there's still fire in his eyes.
Don't they know when the cold wind blows
You can try.
[Chorus:]
But, you can't hold back
You can't hold back
You can't hold back
wild horses.
Now, I've built my world around you.
But, this is not where you belong.
You're too much like him.
You can never be fenced in, for long.
I might hold on.
[Chorus:]
No, you can't back
everybody knows)
You can't hold back)
you gotta let him go)
You can't hold back wild horses.
The lyrics of Suzy Bogguss's song Wild Horses depict the story of a wild and free-spirited individual who refuses to be tamed or restricted. The singer of the song admires this person's independent and courageous nature, as they remain unbound by the conventions of society. The verses suggest that the person's character is inherently tied to nature and the wild; they are depicted as running in the bitter cold of winter, propelled by a freedom that eludes most people. However, the chorus reveals the dilemma that the singer faces, as they try to hold onto this person despite their untameable nature. The song ends with the realization that wild horses cannot be held back or caged in and must be allowed to roam free.
