After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.

Chasin' away
Shadows of last night
You're still sleeping,I'm facing
The day
Things look so different in
The light
I'll see it in your eyes
When I held you in the darkness
I could believe those lies
Now the sun is up it's morning
And you don't love me still
It finally dawned on me,you
Never will
Look at you,how real it all
Seems
I still feel your touch
But I'm through believin'
This dream
I guess I'm finally wakin' up
Hold on you said hold on
But there's no use in crying when
It's done
Another day has just begun
Now the sun is up,it's morning
And you don't love me still
It finally dawned on me,you
Never will
In Suzy Bogguss's song You, the singer is waking up to a new day, facing the reality that her partner does not love her anymore. She reflects on how the things she believed in the darkness of the night seem different when the sun is up. She was holding onto the hope that someday her partner would love her again, but she realizes that it's just a dream. The reality is that despite her partner's promise to hold on, their love is gone, and there is no point in crying about it.
The lyrics use contrast and imagery to convey the singer's feelings. The contrast between darkness and light, sleeping and waking up, and dreaming and reality represents the singer's changing perspective. In the darkness, the singer could believe the lies her partner told her about loving her. However, when the sun comes up, things become clearer, and the singer realizes that her partner never loved her and never will. The lyrics create a vivid image of the singer facing the new day alone, feeling the loss of what once was.
Overall, the lyrics show a sense of acceptance and moving on. The singer accepts the reality of the situation and knows that crying won't change anything. The song's message is that sometimes relationships don't work out, and it's okay to move on.
