After taking a brief recording hiatus in the mid-1990s to start a family with her husband, songwriter Doug Crider, Bogguss returned to the country music scene to find that her charting power had already faded. Although she last appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart in 1999, Bogguss continues to record and perform around the country to a loyal following.
Her most recent recordings have ventured into swing and jazz variations of country. These albums really showcase the tremendous talent in her voice. Suzy is a true singer, and her voice has so much versatility.
In 2014, Suzy added an album of Merle Haggard songs entitled "Lucky". The country & western flavor dominates this album, unlike some of her other recent work. To promote this new album, Suzy has embarked on a nationwide tour.
You And I
Suzy Bogguss Lyrics

It feels too right
And I'll think straighter
Tomorrow
If I don't hold you tonight
I realize it's time for me to go
But it seems only fair to let
You know
Of all the things I've wanted to
Do and never done
You'd be the one
And if you want to know how
Close I'd ever come
You'd be the one
Looking at it honestly
I guess I knew
I opened up this door
But I can't let you walk through
I have too much to lose if I fall
But if it means anything at all
I wear this ring to tell the world
I love one man
But you and I almost got out
Of hand
In Suzy Bogguss's song You'd Be The One, the singer is addressing someone they have developed feelings for, acknowledging the chemistry between them but lamenting the fact that it is not viable. The opening verse expresses the singer's reluctance to act on their feelings, recognizing that they may be clouded by the intensity of the moment. The second verse goes on to declare that the singer cannot risk everything they have for this person, and so despite the powerful attraction between them, nothing can happen. The final verse describes the singer's internal struggle as they feel torn between their loyalty to their husband and their desire for this other person.
