Caught in the Rain
TROY KINGI Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This woman's left her mark
Now I can't see, the fruit from the trees
(Lord) somebody gone and stepped me out
For wanting to be free
Can anyone spare their tokens
(now)? My muse is broken
Colour me, opal skies
That ain't helping my hyperbole
These words ain't worth the paper
That they're scribbled on
Dig deep for revelations – only need one
Ain't nobody here to paint it for you
Ain't nobody got no paint
‘Cause you left your love in California
Trying to run from the rain
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
You used the last of heavens
Stardust lined up parallel
Now my little baby honey's hooked on caramel
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
The answers in the drugs
Pulling the Philosophers rug
He gone keep on falling
Hallucinates installing
Now we looking at the sheep arrive
Rolling up on the train
Its twenty passed five, it's my mistake
I've waited far too late baby
Ain't nobody here to paint it for you
Ain't nobody got no paint
‘Cause you left your love in California
Trying to run from the rain
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
You used the last of heavens
Stardust lined up parallel
Now my little baby honey's hooked on caramel
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
Ain't nobody here to paint it for you
Ain't nobody got no paint
‘Cause you left your love in California
Trying to run from the rain
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
You used the last of heavens
Stardust lined up parallel
Now my little baby honey's hooked on caramel
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
Ain't no shame ain't no shame
When you get caught in the rain
Ain't no shame ain't no shame ain't
No shame ain't no shame babe
Ain't nobody here to paint it for you
Ain't nobody got no paint
‘Cause you left your love in California
Trying to run from the rain
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
You used the last of heavens
Stardust lined up parallel
Now my little baby honey's hooked on caramel
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
Ain't nobody here to paint it for you
Ain't nobody got no paint
‘Cause you left your love in California
Trying to run from the rain
Oh, babe ain't no shame when you
Get caught in the rain
In "Caught in the Rain" by TROY KINGI, the lyrics explore themes of love, freedom, and the consequences of choices. The song starts with the singer acknowledging the impact a woman has had on his life, to the point where he feels blinded by his emotions and unable to see clearly. He expresses a desire for freedom but acknowledges that someone has stopped him from pursuing it. He asks if anyone can help him find his inspiration again, hinting at a broken muse. The mention of "opal skies" suggests a sense of beauty and wonder, but the chaos and disruptions around him cloud his thoughts and hinder his state of mind.
The lyrics suggest that the words themselves hold no value and lack significance, symbolized by them not being worth the paper they are written on. The singer urges himself to dig deep for a revelation, emphasizing the need for a single profound insight that can potentially bring meaning and clarity to his situation.
The chorus focuses on the idea of running away from reality and seeking refuge from hardships. The singer's love is left behind in California, and the rain becomes a metaphorical obstacle he tries to evade. However, there is no shame in getting caught in the rain, suggesting that sometimes it is necessary to face the challenges head-on instead of avoiding them. It implies that avoiding difficulties will not lead to a resolution.
The song also touches upon the influence of drugs and their ability to create illusions or distort reality. The lyrics mention a philosopher's rug being pulled, indicating how perspective and understanding can be disrupted or lost under the influence. The imagery of waiting too late further suggests a state of regret and missed opportunities.
Overall, "Caught in the Rain" delves into the complexities of love, the pursuit of freedom, the illusory nature of certain experiences, and the need to confront challenges instead of avoiding them.
