The unique sound they created is best exemplified on their 1996 full-length untitled album. They also appear on Erase-Yer-Head #9 EP with Melt Banana, God is my Co-Pilot and Camp Blackfoot (1999) with a more avant garde sound prefiguring the "concrete pop" experiments of their guitarist Naing Naing.
"T.O.D." as they call themselves sing in several languages (english, japanese, french, german and hungarian) following the steps of Heimat-los (one of the very first french hardcore band).
In 1992, after ex-Heimat-los singer Norbert left the band, they replaced him with a female vocalist Astrid aka Maya who had been in a jazz band together with Tear(s) of a Doll bassplayer (that band was called Totem and their drummer would later join Magma's choir. After Astrid/Maya joined lot of earlier material was removed from their repertoire to focus on new songs. Their 3rd demo "La fille aux allumettes", recorded in January 1993 shows a clear change in their sound.
They were originally called Tears of a Doll with an S. The S was dropped in November 1994 during the recording session of their 4th demo tape "Une Araignée dans le plafond" at the suggestion of the sound engineer Flox.
In 1996 they spent over two months and a half in a studio (analog / 24 tracks) to record a full length testament album... knowing their guitarist would soon spend one year in Burma on a scholarship program. One day before he left they play a show with NoMeansNo. The self-produced album finally came out in April 1997 on Pandemonium Records (Marseille), with no promo tour.
T.O.D. has been on hiatus for years after their guitarist Francois L'Homer relocated to Myanmar (Burma) as humanitarian worker. But he came back to France in 2006 and the band official website announced that members of T.O.D. were planning a come back.
Members of Tear of a Doll are currently involved in the following projects:
- Guitarist (François) produces even more offbeat music under the moniker Naing Naing (concrete pop).
- Drummer (Orkhan) drums for Nosfell, guitarist is doing Naing Naing.
- Vocalist (Astrid) is doing Miss Maya.

Congrats on her arrival! She’s such a pretty doll!

Beautiful doll! The outfit and especially the boots look amazing. Congrats!
Speaking of footwear, you mention you're not usually a fan of the SD footwear, so I was wondering if you (or anyone else) did have any brands you could recommend? I have been making most of the clothing for my doll, but now she just needs some nice boots and SD have very little choice at the moment and a bit too expensive for me to justify.

Congrats on her, i guess she is expensive because she is licensed and Danny might had to pay to use the character for his dolls. Hopefully one day i can get to see her at doll meets, when ever thar happens lol

Yeah licenses aren’t cheap. I’ve been buying LEGO and the price & piece count for licensed properties versus their own designs is a big leap.
I seem to remember the licensed smart dolls were originally planned to be on cortex bodies (which would have brought the price point down a bit) - but I’m really happy Supergirl is on a vinyl body.

Congratulations! She is a beauty and so special. Mine has arrived in my city and is supposed to be delivered today! The toe hole is to anchor the stockings as you pull them up according to Danny's dressing visual step-by-step!

I really love this weathered outfit...absolutely matches the current young Supergirl!

Hi Honey! 😊Glad to see another unboxing on your channel because I love to see dolls unboxings and I love your channel!😃 To be honest, I don't really like the way that the outfit is made, don't really like her face😕 and I don't understand why Danny made a ginger wig for her.🤔 I always prefered the first blond SuperGirl in the 80's but anyway... 😉I hope you love her and even if I don't really like the way that she was made by the company I loved to see your unboxing and I hope that you love her because it's the most important. Thanks for sharing this new part of your collection. Bye🤗😘

Thanks for watching and commenting! I think the wig and outfit color choices were made to tie into the TV show that's currently running, because the doll couldn't have been put into production unless DC/WB gave their stamp of approval.
I've had her on display for a couple of months now and I still like her :)
