Twilight

Hesitation's calling out my name
It started new, but it's old shit now Pulls me down to the ground
I'd rather live my life in purple hazes Right before the darkness falls
Just let me take you, just let me take you To the place where it all began
It was all, it was all like a dream to me
It was all, it was all
That's how it seemed to me
Like a vision
Like a transcendental superstition You appear in the nick of time Where have you been all my life?
Want you to take my the hand and shake me Shake me to the core again
I still remember, I still remember
How it felt when it all began
It was all, it was all like a dream to me
It was all, it was all
That's how it seemed to me
That's how it seemed to me in the twilight That's how it seemed to me in the twilight
Take me back to the place with no name I wanna forget, I wanna run away
Man, you're lame
Chasing fame
Suffocate in LA Twilight.....
In Tei Shi's song "Twilight," the lyrics explore themes of self-discovery, nostalgia, and the search for a deeper connection. The song begins by portraying a sense of frustration, with the line "It's a nuisance, hesitation's calling out my name." The singer feels trapped in a cycle of hesitation, as something that was once new and exciting has now become mundane and burdensome, pulling them down.
However, amidst this feeling of weariness, the singer seeks solace in a state of mind represented by "purple hazes." They desire to live their life in these moments before darkness falls, where they feel free and uninhibited. The lyrics emphasize a desire to escape from the monotony and find a sense of renewal.
The chorus reflects on the experience of encountering someone who seems almost like a dream or a vision, a person who appears at just the right moment. This connection is described as "transcendental superstition." The singer longs for this person to take their hand and shake them to the core, bringing back the intense feelings of excitement and possibility that were present at the beginning of their journey.
In the second verse, the singer remembers how it felt when everything began, suggesting that perhaps the person they are addressing was part of that initial spark, or that they crave a similar dynamic with them in the present. The urge to go back to that place with no name, to forget and run away, becomes a powerful desire.
The final lines of the song are somewhat critical, with the mention of someone being "lame" and "chasing fame" in LA, hinting at the superficiality and disillusionment often associated with the city. The reference to "twilight" in the last line reinforces the idea of a liminal state between light and darkness, where the singer seeks resolution and a new beginning.
