The band seemed to get a degree of support from their record label, Island, for their first two LPs, the hard edged "The Buck Pets," and the more melodic follow up "Mercurotones." The band also had opening spots on tour with larger acts such as Jane's Addiction, but in the end The Buck Pets brand of intelligent, crafted, alternative hard rock was probably a few a years too early to see commercial success. However, the band had a large following in the Dallas/Fort Worth and Norman, Oklahoma area who still miss them.
As a coda, the The Buck Pets released the more restrained, melancholy "To The Quick" -- a fine, almost totally ignored LP -- in 1993 on the independent label Restless.

I got a little, but I need some more
When you think I should
Couldn't be bad, she's just too good
You know, I almost think
To watch her love from candle light
Tastes so sugar sweet
Sunshine on your skin
Sets my eyes, start to spinning
You're the sweetest thing
That I've ever tasted, to walk away
The Buck Pets’s song “How Delicious She Looks” is a love song that is all about the sweet sensation of being in love with someone. The lyrics reveal the singer’s intense desire for someone, his need for more love when he is already feeling strong, and his inability to resist her charms. Despite her goodness, he finds her so delectable that he compares her to candy, and suggests that her love is just as sweet as candy.
The singer’s descriptions of his lover’s sweetness create a vivid and sensory image of her. He compares her to candy from her head to her feet, and suggests that her love is as sweet as sugar. The way he describes the light on her skin suggesting an almost intoxicating sensation, his eyes spinning, is a classic image of someone who is so in love they’re getting dizzy. The singer implies that he finds his lover completely irresistible, and that she is the sweetest thing he has ever tasted.
Overall, the song is an ode to the joyful feelings that come with being in love - the sweetness, warmth, and intoxication - and the idea that love is as delicious as candy, and just as addictive.
