Food Glorious Food
The C.R.S. Players Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

No food in the morning
Even just the thought is a chore
The school day is haunting
My friends won't notice anymore
No food
No awful feeling
I grab the bottle
10 pm

Overall Meaning

In the first verse of "Food Glorious Food," the lyrics highlight the absence of breakfast and the negative impact it has on the singer. The line "No food in the morning" suggests that the singer lacks access to breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day. The mention of this deprivation sets a tone of discomfort and scarcity. The phrase "Even just the thought is a chore" reveals that the mere idea of not having food in the morning feels burdensome. It suggests that the singer is struggling to cope with this daily challenge.

Moving on, the lyrics proceed to express how the school day becomes haunting due to the lack of food. The line "The school day is haunting" signifies the distressing and inescapable nature of the situation. When the singer remarks, "My friends won't notice anymore," it suggests that the singer is trying to hide their hunger or hardship from their friends. It implies that the singer's personal struggle is isolating and they feel invisible to their peers. This further amplifies the sense of vulnerability and lack of support.

The third paragraph delves deeper into the emotional impact of hunger. The repeated phrase "No food" emphasizes the absence and scarcity the singer is experiencing. This deprivation creates an "awful feeling" within the singer, likely a mix of physical discomfort and emotional distress. The singer's desperation becomes evident through the line "I grab the bottle," which could refer to seeking solace in an alcoholic beverage as a means of temporarily numbing the pain or escaping from reality. This suggests a potential harmful coping mechanism born out of desperation.

Finally, the line "10 pm" denotes a specific time, implying a late hour in the night. This phrase could indicate that the singer's struggle with food scarcity continues even after school hours. It adds to the ongoing narrative of deprivation and suffering faced by the individual. The lyrics evoke a sense of urgency and highlight the exhausting and relentless nature of this struggle for sustenance. Overall, the lyrics of "Food Glorious Food" illuminate the emotional toll of hunger and the desperation that arises from feeling consistently deprived of a basic human need.

I love all the Roland RS-PCM sounds on this cassette. The U-220
has many of these sounds but to get those drums on a U-110
or 220 you need the SN-U110-10 Rock Drums PCM card. But
the Roland D-70 and MV-30 have those drums as their stock
drums.

Another one of my favorite songs from the DVD is Tony's version of 10 fat sausages.

I think Spoonful of sugar should have been sung by the kids
only maybe with one of the girls singing the solo parts. But
the adult vocals is just one man. No women adult vocalists.
They should have had a woman singing Spoonful of sugar.

When was A Spoonful of Sugar recorded?

โ€‹@Animal Mechanicals Fan 2022 Not it was probably originally recorded for this cassette and many of these recordings were also reused on the second PLayHouse range originally on cassette in 1998 then 5 of those cassettes were re-released on CD in 1999.
