Drop Me - The Chapin Sisters

Play me like the fool
Treat me mean and cruel
I wanna be schooled in your love

Fly me nice and high
Drop me from the sky
I wanna know why it's your love

Show me through your darkest secrets
Tell me all you know
Let me settle in beside you
Before you make me go

Bruise me 'til I'm blue
Call up someone new
I wanna be true to your love

Tough this game you play
Make me wanna stay
I'm walking away with your love

Show me through your darkest secrets
Tell me all you know
Let me settle in beside you
Before you make me go
X2

Play me like the fool

Treat me mean and cruel
I wanna be schooled in your love x3

Overall Meaning

The Chapin Sisters' song "Drop Me" is a hauntingly beautiful plea for a tumultuous love. At first glance, the lyrics seem to describe a masochistic desire to be treated poorly and used, but a deeper understanding of the song reveals that the singer craves an intense, all-consuming love that will leave her feeling both fulfilled and exhausted.

In the first verse, the singer begs to be "schooled" in her lover's love and desires to be dropped from great heights in order to understand the depths of his affection. She is willing to subject herself to emotional pain and physical bruising in order to fully experience their relationship.

The chorus of the song repeats this theme, with the singer acknowledging the game her lover is playing and indicating that she is both willing to stay and to walk away from their love depending on how he treats her.

It is only in the final verse that the singer explicitly states her desire for her lover to reveal his "darkest secrets" and "tell [her] all he knows" before making her go. This suggests that the singer does not necessarily crave pain or suffering but is instead seeking a deep and authentic connection with her lover that can only be achieved through complete honesty and trust.

Overall, "Drop Me" is a complex and emotionally charged song that speaks to the often-contradictory desires and needs that are present in romantic relationships.

A lot of people complain about the state of modern music. As a 42 year old , i say thats nonsense.Groups like the Chapin Sisters, prove that there is great music out there. Its actually very easy to ignore the Britney Spears types and to listen to the good stuff instead. I have just listended to 10 different groups on WNRN's Youtube site. And all of them were great! Thank you WNRN! And thank you Chapin Sisters, for making such great music
