A Letter to Myself
The Chi-Lites Lyrics

Write a letter, write another letter

Write a letter, write another letter

Write a letter

I'm sealing up this letter

I just finished signing your name
My friends would all be surprised

If they knew I was playing this game

I'll pretend it's a special delivery

And just to give me a hint

I'll use your favorite color

Smear it with your favorite scent

And I know you'd think that I'm crazy

But I can't lose what have I left

So I've decided to write this letter

And send it to myself

So to make my story short

In the mail box I will place

This letter that I wrote

And it's stamped with your lovely face

When I'm alone

And I need someone to talk to

I talk to your picture

Get me a pencil and paper

And write all the things

Say all the things

I've heard you say before

But with a little extra

Extra read all about it

Sugar and spice

I guess it makes me feel kind of nice

I write a letter to myself

Oh, write another letter to myself

I write another letter to myself

Oh, I write another letter to myself

What is a home when you're all alone

It seems so full, it seems so full but so empty

Oh, I put on the coat, leave you a note

And go to the places, places, places where we used to be

I pretend you are there, order dinner for two

Your very presence is all in the air

I write a letter to myself

Oh, write another letter to myself

I write another letter to myself

Oh, I write another letter to myself

I write another letter to myself

Write another letter to myself

I write another letter to myself

Oh, I write another letter to myself

I write another letter to myself

Write another letter to myself

Write another letter to myself

Write another letter to myself

I was supposed to get a lot of stuff done at home, today, but I got hooked listening to the music of my youth, lol. Chi-Lites, Delfonics, Stylistics, Spinners, Blue Magic, early EW&F...60s and 70s Soul...the music brought different races together...we were so full of hope, admiration and wanting to understand and know each other. That outlook early on helped me make long-lasting friends of all backgrounds. And I guess the music of our teens stay in a certain compartment in our hearts and minds. I'm so glad I grew up during this time...No one but those of us in our age group will really understand.

@Sterling Lane So true, Mr. Lane. I made this comment 5 years ago, already - can't believe how quickly time's going by. I still listen to our music every day - will never get enough. That happy/sad feeling is addictive, I guess. ;)

We grew up in a place and time that brought so much richness to our lives as we have gotten older and listen to the greatest music ever!!! And just thinking back on some of the greatest childhood memories that make us smile and cry all at the same time

Derek,my sentiments exactly. I know it's been awhile since you wrote how you felt about this time in our lives, but it sounds like you and I came up in the same time.

You are so correct, we connected with all races growing up. But when I clean the house I have to have music on too, its inspirational, helps me to keep focused. Maybe some clean up music for you, smthg upbeat to get you going. I totally get it, now get cleaning young lady. πŸ˜‚
