Here in the Night
The Choir Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Wśród nocnej ciszy głos się rozchodzi
Wstańcie pasterze Bóg się wam rodzi

Czem prędzej się wybierajcie
Do Betlejem pospieszajcie
Przywitać Pana
Przywitać Pana
Czem prędzej się wybierajcie
Do Betlejem pospieszajcie
Przywitać Pana
Przywitać Pana

Poszli znaleźli Dzieciątko w żłobie
Z wszystkimi znaki danymi sobie

Jako Bogu cześć Mu dali
A witając zawołali
Z wielkiej radości
Z wielkiej radości

Jako Bogu cześć Mu dali
A witając zawołali

Z wielkiej radości
Z wielkiej radości

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Choir's song "Here in the Night" are in Polish and tell the story of the shepherds who were visited by an angel announcing the birth of Jesus. The first two lines, "Wśród nocnej ciszy głos się rozchodzi, Wstańcie pasterze Bóg się wam rodzi," set the scene of a silent night where the voices of the angels spread the news of the birth of the Messiah, urging the shepherds to rise and witness this divine event.

The next lines repeat the urgency for the shepherds to make haste and go to Bethlehem to greet the newborn King. The repetition of the phrases "Czem prędzej się wybierajcie, Do Betlejem pospieszajcie, Przywitać Pana" emphasizes the importance and excitement of the moment, urging the shepherds to quickly go and welcome the Lord into the world.

As the shepherds follow the celestial signs and find the Baby in a manger, the lyrics describe the awe and reverence they felt towards Him. "Poszli znaleźli Dzieciątko w żłobie, Z wszystkimi znaki danymi sobie" portrays the shepherds finding the Child as foretold, and in response, they worshipped Him and joyfully called out in great celebration.

The final lines express the shepherds' reverence and overwhelming joy at the sight of the newborn Savior. "Jako Bogu cześć Mu dali, A witając zawołali, Z wielkiej radości" highlights their worship of Jesus, welcoming Him with great joy and exultation. The repetition of "Z wielkiej radości" underscores the sheer happiness and elation they experienced in witnessing the fulfillment of prophecies and the arrival of God's promise. Overall, these lyrics encapsulate the profound significance of the shepherds' encounter with the newborn Christ and the jubilant response it evoked in them.

"Here I Am, Lord"

I, the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save

I, who made the stars of night
I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart

I, the Lord of snow and rain
I have borne my people's pain
I have wept for love of them
They turn away

I will break their hearts of stone
Give them hearts for love alone
Who will speak my word to them
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart

I, the Lord of wind and flame
I will tend the poor and lame
I will set a feast for them
My hand will save

Finest bread I will provide
'Til their hearts be satisfied
I will give my life to them
Whom shall I send?

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart

This song brings me to tears every time I hear it. I cannot even sing it in church anymore because of my emotions. This rendition is no exception, as I am in tears writing this comment. As a retired emergency department/trauma nurse, I brought my faith and religion with me to work everyday. There were many times that I literally washed the feet of the poor and downtrodden because of the deplorable conditions they lived in. Similarly, good people get into trouble by no fault of their own. I was but a vehicle for God's love when I cared for patients. Thank you for placing this video online.
