Attacked
The Ex Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Walking in a backroad
Footsteps
There's a man don't know him
Don't think about it suspicion is an ugly thing
There's a man don't know him
Walking in a backroad don't think about it
Pushed into an alley
Attack
Attacked by the public opinion
Ought to be more careful hit 'm where it hurts

It hurts
It hurts to be getting more experienced in that area

Overall Meaning

The Ex's song "Attacked" is a commentary on the pitfalls of public opinion and the ways in which it can harm individuals. The song's lyrics use a simple scene of someone walking down a backroad and encountering a male stranger as a metaphor for the constant barrage of judgment and assumptions that people face in their daily lives. The line "don't think about it suspicion is an ugly thing" suggests that the singer recognizes the corrosive effects of distrust and paranoia, but also feels helpless to resist them.

The song takes a darker turn when the singer is "pushed into an alley" and "attacked by the public opinion." The use of the word "public" emphasizes the idea that this is not just one person's individual opinion, but a larger cultural force that can be just as violent and oppressive as any physical attack. The singer is left feeling wounded and vulnerable, but also somewhat resigned to the fact that this is a familiar experience: "It hurts to be getting more experienced in that area."

Overall, "Attacked" is a searing indictment of the way we treat each other in our society, and a call to recognize the ways in which we contribute to this toxic cycle of suspicion and judgment.

The Title is incredibly misleading. Trying to twist the narrative against Gun owners, are you?

I do feel bad for both families, but the family of the man who was shot cannot be calling for justice against the family of the young woman he was after, they didn't do anything but protect themselves, he obviously didn't have good intentions.

@inigauxreign9985

Its clear his family is the reason he behaved that way. How could you see that video and call for self defense

@lareinelester685

@@inigauxreign9985 What does his family have to do with it? Haven't you heard of a million stories of ex boyfriends coming after a girl they dating yesterday or a yr or more ago because it doesn't seem to make a difference to harm or kill her? I sure have. Men seem more unstable after break ups.

@Flowergurl2000

Yeah, they raise the lil psycopath,he was 22.

@inigauxreign9985

@@lareinelester685Yes, they raised him. If my family saw a tape of me acting like that, they'd bluntly say she got what she was looking for-trouble. They are clearly a part of the problem because they are still upholding his behavior at someone's home that didn't invite you. Keep raising little mass unalivers and stalkers while crying for justice.
