Stylisticly, The Feeling have a debt of gratitude to the 70s, particularly bands such as 10cc, Supertramp, Pilot, Buggles, Queen, Stackridge, and other "progressive pop" acts. They are not averse to wearing their heart on their sleeve at gigs, playing covers of tunes by their favourite artists (such as 'Video Killed The Radio Star' by Buggles).
The Feeling have also followed the 'progressive' tradition of the concept album, with Twelve Stops and Home being a concept album about lost and unrequited love. The album starts with a relationship having just broken up, then follows through with the various emotions of the protagonist from hopeless dreamer to turning to drink for comfort, and finally slumping home.
A Hundred Sinners

And when you knock upon my door I hope you're ready to play.
I think he knows what to do, I saw him jumpin' the queue,
But in your heart is fascination and we're waitin' for you.
Come and get it if you want it,
Ellie's all dressed up like she promised,
Anna she don't care what's wrong or right.
Sally's gonna get drunk whatever,
Everybody round our house tonight.
So the morning has come, and Paul is still on the drums,
And all the neighbors stopped complaining when we poured 'em some rum.
And we've made so many friends, we don't want it to end,
Why don't we put on something fabulous and do it again.
So come and get it if you want it,
Ellie's all dressed up like she promised,
Anna she don't care what's wrong or right.
Janey's gonna live forever,
Sally's gonna get drunk whatever,
Everybody round our house tonight.
Got to be there
Should've been there, should've been there, ah ah,
Should've been there, should've been there,
Should've been there, should've been there, ah ah,
Should've been there, should've been there
Every game played, has a winner,
And every sin made has a hundred sinners.
Come and get it if you want it,
Ellie's all dressed up like she promised,
Anna she don't care what's wrong or right.
Janey's gonna live forever,
Sally's gonna get drunk whatever,
Everybody round our house tonight.
Should've been there, should've been there, ah ah,
Should've been there, should've been there,
Should've been there, should've been there, ah ah,
Should've been there, should've been there
Should've been there, should've been there
Come and get it if you want it,
Ellie's all dressed up like she promised,
Anna she don't care what's wrong or right.
Janey's gonna live forever,
Sally's gonna get drunk whatever,
Everybody round our house tonight.
Everybody round our house tonight.
The Feeling’s “A Hundred Sinners” is a party anthem that celebrates living life to the fullest and indulging in the moment. The song’s first verse sets the tone for the rest of the track as it expresses a hopeful and positive outlook for the listener. The lyrics move into an upbeat and optimistic view of the night to come as each person prepares to party at their house. As the partygoers gather, the chorus hits, repeating the message that anyone who wants to have a good time should come over and join in on the festivities. The song’s bridge leaves the listener with the message that no matter what happens in life, every action has consequences and a multitude of individuals are partying while living in “sin.”
Overall, the song uses a catchy melody, upbeat rhythm, and relatable lyrics to invite people to join in on the party and embrace the fleeting nature of life. The Feeling's song is not only a great party song but can be seen as an anthem for anyone who wants to let loose and live their life freely.
