Stylisticly, The Feeling have a debt of gratitude to the 70s, particularly bands such as 10cc, Supertramp, Pilot, Buggles, Queen, Stackridge, and other "progressive pop" acts. They are not averse to wearing their heart on their sleeve at gigs, playing covers of tunes by their favourite artists (such as 'Video Killed The Radio Star' by Buggles).
The Feeling have also followed the 'progressive' tradition of the concept album, with Twelve Stops and Home being a concept album about lost and unrequited love. The album starts with a relationship having just broken up, then follows through with the various emotions of the protagonist from hopeless dreamer to turning to drink for comfort, and finally slumping home.
Love and care

Come, why don't you come along, babe
Why don't you come along, babe
Why don't you come along, babe
Why don't you come along,
Why don't you run to me, babe
We can get out of here, babe
Nobody loves you here.
Do you long for a place far away from this awful town?
Well this is the way to go,
Do you feel darkness in your soul?
A little love and care it's so rare,
A little love and care.
When it gets hard to see,
Open your eyes and look for me,
A little love and care it's so rare,
A little love and care.
Don't go anywhere, don't do anything dangerous,
There's a whole load of people depending on you for their happiness.
So don't do anything, don't go anywhere, stay with us,
It's a terrible world, you should know you belong with the likes of us.
But don't you long for a place far away from this awful crowd?
This is the way to go,
Do you feel darkness in your soul?
A little love and care it's so rare,
A little love and care.
If diamonds can make you stay,
You might as well throw them all away,
A little love and care it's so rare,
A little love and care.
This is the way to go,
Do you feel darkness in your soul?
A little love and care it's so rare,
A little love and care.
When it gets hard to see,
Open your eyes and look for me,
A little love and care it's so rare,
A little love and care.
Why don't you come along?
[repeat]
The Feeling's song "Love and Care" is a song that aims to uplift its listener from a dark place. The song's lyrics speak to someone who is feeling lost and unloved, and encourages them to come with the singer to find a place of love and care. The song begins with a repetitive chorus of "why don't you come along, babe?" which sets a hopeful tone for the rest of the song. The lines "we can get out of here, nobody loves you here" paint a picture of someone who feels trapped and unloved in their current situation, but the singer is offering them a way out.
Throughout the song, the singer repeatedly emphasizes the importance of love and care. They call it "so rare" which suggests that it is something that not everyone can easily find. The lines "don't do anything dangerous, there's a whole load of people depending on you for their happiness" show that the singer is not only concerned for the person's own well-being, but also for the impact that their actions may have on others.
The song's bridge brings up the idea of diamonds as a symbol of materialistic possessions that someone may think will make them happy, but the singer believes that it is ultimately love and care that will truly make them happy. The song ends with the same repetitive chorus, inviting the listener to come along with the singer and find a place of love and care.
Overall, "Love and Care" is a hopeful and uplifting song that reminds its listeners of the importance of love and care in their lives.
