The band released their Swedish Grammi-winning debut album "Supershitty to the Max!" in 1996. Just before a tour opening for Kiss, the band recruited keyboardist and percussionist Anders Lindström (also known as Boba Fett or Boba) on a part-time basis; he would become a full-time member in 1999. After the album "Payin' the Dues" in 1998, Dregen left the band to return to Backyard Babies full-time, and Mattias Hellberg and Danne Andersson were recruited to complete the band's touring responsibilities. After the release of "Grande Rock", which featured additional guitar playing from both Lindström and Hellberg, Robert Dahlqvist was hired as a full-time lead guitarist in 1999. With the lineup now solidified, the band released three more studio albums and a cover album, with many EPs and limited-edition releases as well. The Hellacopters disbanded amicably in 2008 so the members could move on to other projects. Eight years later, the band reassembled in 2016, initially for an exclusive performance at Sweden Rock Festival to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of their award-winning debut album "Supershitty to the Max!".
In October 2021, the band announced that they had signed with the record label Nuclear Blast to release a new album in the spring of 2022. The album, "Eyes of Oblivion", was released on April 1, 2022.

or a puch out with sense
I have them all the time you know it ain't the season
you say I look a little tense
and it do get worse like a merry go round curse
just like talking to a wall
the reason puts the lights out the sense pulls the plug
so you feel it
just wrap it up and seal it
and deal with it when a rainy day comes along
so let's come to a conclusion
let us all come to terms
with the greater problems and the fewer solutions
how will I ever ever learn
I can go against the grain I can even make a racket
play along or I can take a stand
surrounded by monkeys I doubt I'll ever hack it
can try to take off or I can hold their hands
so you feel it
just wrap it up and seal it
and deal with it when a rainy day comes along
you bet them come along
always comes along
keeps going on
so you feel it
just wrap it up and seal it
and deal with it when a rainy day comes along
so you feel it
just wrap it up and seal it
and deal with it when a rainy day somes along
always comes along
The lyrics to The Hellacopters' song "Rainy Days Revisited" take a reflective and introspective look at the challenges of dealing with life's difficulties. The first stanza explores the struggle between reason and sense, the inherent tension that arises when we attempt to reconcile opposing forces in our lives. This struggle only intensifies over time, leading the singer to experience a sense of frustration and helplessness. The chorus offers a solution, encouraging the listener to "wrap it up and seal it" and deal with their problems when a rainy day comes along.
The second verse continues this theme of grappling with life's challenges, as the singer ponders the difficulty of finding solutions to seemingly intractable problems. They suggest that they may try to buck the status quo or play along, but ultimately they feel surrounded by "monkeys" and uncertain about their ability to make a difference. Again, the chorus offers a sense of hope, reminding the listener that rainy days will always come, but we can weather them if we are prepared.
Overall, "Rainy Days Revisited" is a meditation on resilience and the strategies we can use to navigate difficult times. By acknowledging that life is full of challenges, and that we won't always have easy answers, the song encourages us to stay strong and keep moving forward.
