not to take these everyday
well im sure it could take my pain away
yeah they say you can do this on your own
take a pill, all i heard when i was young
i know, yeah yeah
well i flushed all my feeling down the drain
cloud my brain im a clown when i am down
come on in take a pill and settle down
i know, yeah yeah
and i know not to take these everyday
The Kicks' song "Pop Star Radio Crown" is a thought-provoking piece that speaks about the modern day pressures and expectations of society. The lyrics bring out the issue of over-dependence on pills, which is something becoming increasingly common among people who want to escape the daily stresses of life.
The lyrics suggest the idea that pills can take away one’s pain, but the singer knows that it is not a good idea to take them every day. The line “well I flushed all my feeling down the drain” shows how pills can cloud one's emotions and leave someone feeling numb. The song also emphasizes the message that it is better to deal with problems head-on than to suppress them with pills.
Furthermore, the song highlights the idea that society often suggests that people should be able to handle their problems alone, when in reality, it may not be possible. The line “they say you can do this on your own” underscores this message. The singer knows this is not always true and that there is no shame in seeking help from others.
Overall, "Pop Star Radio Crown" is a compelling piece that emphasizes the importance of facing one's problems and being honest with oneself. The song encourages people to take control of their lives and seek help when needed.
