The current line-up consists of Mark Millard (vocals), Tim Smith (guitars) and Steve King (drums). They have released a total of eight albums in their 15 year history, two of which won Gospel Album of the Year at the NZ Music Awards (Marvel and The Lads). They performed at every Parachute Music Festival from 1993-2005, earning them a cult status among many fans.

The Dream
The Lads Lyrics

They're only grey for a day,
So wrap your troubles in dreams,
And dream your troubles away.
Until that sunshine peeps through,
There's only one thing to do,
Just wrap your troubles in dreams,
And dream your troubles away.
That's Fate after all,
Life's really funny that way.
No use to grumble,
Just smile as they fall,
Weren't you King for a day?
Say!
Just remember that sunshine
Always follows the rain,
So wrap your troubles in dreams,
And dream your troubles away.
The lyrics to The Lads's song "The Dream" convey a message of optimism and resilience in the face of adversity. The opening lines suggest that even when the sky is cloudy and grey, it is only temporary. The suggestion to "wrap your troubles in dreams" implies the power of imagination and the ability to find solace and escape from life's challenges through dreaming.

The lyrics also remind us that life can be unpredictable, but it is important to seize the moments of triumph and enjoy being "King for a day."
Overall, "The Dream" promotes a positive mindset and the belief that hardships are not permanent. It encourages listeners to rely on their dreams as a source of inspiration and as a way to overcome the trials and tribulations of life. The song's uplifting message serves as a reminder to stay hopeful and optimistic, even during challenging times.
