Dead Stock Paradise
The Pillows Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I was daydreaming alone
Sick for motorbike
I don't know what to begin with
Sick for motorbike
The air of my room is foul
Sick for motorbike
I will do anything for drive
Let's go beyond my depth
You, too, are against me
Tell me frankly what your ideas on my paradise
Walk with long strides
I was daydreaming alone
Walk with long strides
But my soul was dry and stiff
Let's go beyond my depth
You, too, are against me
Tell me frankly what your ideas on my paradise
oh Look, something just flashed.
The lyrics of The Pillow's song Dead Stock Paradise is quite cryptic at first listen. The song has two verses, both of which contain the repetition of the phrase "sick for motorbike." The first verse talks about daydreaming and being sick for the thrill of riding a motorcycle. The singer is feeling restless and wants to break free from the monotony of his room. He will do anything for the thrill of driving a motorbike. The second verse talks about walking with long strides but feeling dry and stiff on the inside. The singer seems to be searching for a purpose, a reason to live beyond his current mundane existence.
The chorus "Let's go beyond my depth, you, too, are against me, tell me frankly what your ideas on my paradise" suggests that the singer is feeling isolated from those around him. He wants to break free from his mundane existence and find something exciting and meaningful. He wants to know what people around him think of his search for paradise.
Overall, the song is a reflection of the human desire for something exciting and meaningful. It speaks to the universal feelings of restlessness, isolation, and longing for a deeper purpose.
