Closure
The Plot in You Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Why did you reach towards me like I was paying for
Always what you want and never what you need
Sacrificed all these sleepless nights
It's a goddamn shame, I guess I'm here to say

I need some closure
Not enough to bring me back
I'll get closer
'Cause I don't think I'd live through that
I need closure
Not enough to bring me back
I'll get closer
'Cause I don't think I'd live through that again

I'd kill to sit and say nothing
You say it's never your fault
Let's carry on with your judgement
I know it's falling apart
There's nothing left of us
I guess I'm here because

I need some closure
Not enough to bring me back
I'll get closer
'Cause I don't think I'd live through that
I need closure
Not enough to bring me back
I'll get closer
'Cause I don't think I'd live through that again

I don't think I'd live through that again
Yeah, I don't think I'd live through that again

I'm losing, always excusing
We're in the dark now, won't let my guard down

I'm losing, always excusing
We're in the dark now, won't let my guard down

I need some closure
Not enough to bring me back
I'll get closer
'Cause I don't think I'd live through that
I need closure
Not enough to bring me back
I'll get closer
'Cause I don't think I'd live through that again

I don't think I'd live through that again
Yeah, I don't think I'd live through that again

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Plot in You's song "Closure" express the singer's need for closure and their unwillingness to go through the pain and heartbreak of a failed relationship again. The first verse talks about how the person they were with only focused on their own wants and desires, never considering what the singer needed. The line "Sacrificed all these sleepless nights, it's a goddamn shame" suggests that the singer invested a lot of time and effort into the relationship, but it ultimately didn't work out.

The chorus emphasizes the singer's craving for closure, indicating that they need some form of resolution or clarity to help them move on from the relationship. However, they also state that it's not enough to simply bring them back to the same situation. They want to get closer to closure, but they don't think they could go through the same pain again.

The second verse addresses the dynamics of the relationship, with the singer wishing they could just sit in silence instead of constantly dealing with the other person's refusal to take responsibility. The line "Let's carry on with your judgement, I know it's falling apart" suggests that the judgment and blame from the other person has caused the relationship to crumble. The phrase "There's nothing left of us" indicates that the relationship has reached its breaking point.

The bridge section repeats the lines "I'm losing, always excusing, we're in the dark now, won't let my guard down." Here, the singer is expressing their weariness with constantly making excuses for the other person's behavior and being kept in the dark about their true intentions. They have learned their lesson and are determined not to let their guard down again.

Overall, the lyrics of "Closure" convey a sense of emotional exhaustion and a strong desire to move past a toxic relationship. The singer acknowledges the need for closure but acknowledges that they cannot go through the same pain again. They are ready to protect themselves and find a resolution that will allow them to heal and move on.

And guess what, the band is still peaking for others.

Why?

Because music is subjective.

Aside from that obvious truth, TPIY has more fans today then it did in 2015. The term peak means their should be decline today. There is growth with them, not decline.

Have fun with your "opinion" :)

Dispose and Swan Song were both great albums, but these singles they’ve released over the past couple of years have been MIND-BLOWING. Landon hasn’t ever missed, but he’s taken things to a new level. Not surprising considering his obvious versatility. The fact that these are the same guys who wrote songs like The Fathers Seed and still manage to be masters of whatever craft they decide to take on…well, it says a lot.

@CaoimhinMacCana

These guys are quickly becoming my favorite band. Forgotten blew my fucking mind!

@wxuds7654

Also one of the best bands for shows. Never miss one when they're close not just him but the whole band❀

@ryanquick00

Landon basically writes everything even recordEd the entire happiness and self-destruction on his own not sure if he finished mastered and kept going, but I know that record was directly after he got clean

@jamesh885

This doesn't hit the same as Swan Song. But it's still great.
