Hellofatester was released in 1998, spawning singles Liquid and Swimming With The Kids. The video for Liquid received regular airplay on Nordic MTV.
Rasmus became The Rasmus in 2000 to avoid confusion with the similarly named Swedish electronica artist, known simply as Rasmus. Into was released in 2001 and went double platinum in Finland debuting at #1. The first single F-F-F-Falling was #1 in Finland during three months in early 2001. The second single Chill reached the #2 place in Finland. The Rasmus toured Scandinavia and Europe along with HIM and Roxette that year to promote the album. The band finally gained international fame with their 2003 album Dead Letters which went gold and platinum in several countries, accompanied with the single In the Shadows which reached #1 in a number of countries. iTunes Music Store offered the track as one of its free singles, a positive public response prompted many listeners to buy the rest of the album. Guilty was released in 2004 and was the last single of the album. The three other singles; In My Life, First Day of My Life and Funeral Song also received mostly favourable reviews and response. During the 2004 Reading Festival in England, the band was pelted with plastic bottles filled with urine and mud (an act reserved for the worst band on the bill each year) until they eventually walked offstage when immediate medical attention was required for Eero's eye.
Hide from the Sun, the band's sixth studio album was released in September 2005. It received Platinum status in Finland and sold more than 15,000 copies in the UK alone. It includes songs released from 2001 to 2009, as indicated in the album title, and features a previously unreleased song October & April, with the vocals of Anette Olzon from the band Nightwish. This song was recorded during the same time as the other songs from album Black Roses, but wasn't included as it didn't follow the album concept.

Yeah, into the blue
Follow me come on you know me
Yeah, Into the blue
I'll wake you up when the morning comes
A descent cup of coffee with milk, right?
I'll dress you up and tie up your shoes
Crawling on never looking back
Won't lose your smile though your life is a mess-up
The pressure's like a knife in your back
What can you do when your world is turning into black?
[Chorus]
Grab my hand follow me though I'm sinking
Into the sea where the fish don't ever sleep
I solved my case by the way I've been thinking
My mind is resting in the blue
My mind is resting in the sea
Follow me come on you know me...
I'll pick you up and I'll get you down
To the town if you have any spare time
Relax today, nothing's ruling you
I'll take you out it's the least I can do
Once again oh you turn your back
I wonder why you make yourself to do that
No one can bear living in a trap
What can you do when your world is turning into black?
[Chorus]
Have I ever made myself clear?
Well, I'll make myself clear now
[Chorus]
The lyrics of "Blue" by The Rasmus are about a person trying to help someone they care about who is going through a tough time. The lyrics communicate an invitation to follow the singer into the blue, which is meant to represent peace, calmness, and a place of rest. The song describes a person who is in mental anguish, dealing with pressure and stress, and the singer seems to be reassuring them that they are not alone in their struggles. The singer promises to be there for the person, to wake them up in the morning with a cup of coffee, dress them up, help them relax, and take them out. They tell the person to follow them and take their hand, and that despite sinking into the sea where the fish don't sleep, their mind can rest in the blue.
The song's chorus captures the essence of the message, urging the person to grab the singer's hand and follow them, even though they may be sinking, and to trust the singer because they have solved their own case by thinking differently. Overall, the song is a message of hope and reassurance for anyone who might be feeling alone or overwhelmed, and it encourages people to seek help and support when they need it.
