Each player was a product of the classical world, all having been trained in their respective instruments from a very tender age (piano, cello, violin).

As a group they opened for bands such as Rasputina and Paris Loves L.A., and toured with Veruca Salt. Wes Precourt has supported Justin Timberlake, played the Grammys, soloed with national orchestras and serenaded the dedication of the Heifitz studio. Ana has played with Arthur Lee and LOVE, The Eels, Trent Reznor, Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, Gnarls Barkley, ZWAN, Kidney Thieves, Brian Wilson and Sparkle Horse to name a few, Dan is the founder of Music ‘N Me, a school dedicated to music education for small children, and finally Morgan has sung on the trailers for “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, “Pride and Prejudice” and “Lady in the Water”, and left the Romanovs to collaborate and tour with French electronic/shoegaze band M83 (for the album Saturdays=Youth).

Winners of the 2007 Toronto Independent Music Awards where they won for Best USA Band, The Romanovs released their debut and final album “…and the moon was hungry…” in November of 2007.

Maria was always my favorite of OTMA, she was apparently incredibly strong. When no advisors could be found, she was the one who carried Alexei. She could lift him with one arm. She was incredibly compassionate, and a dedicated protector of her brother and her parents. That’s why she volunteered to go to Siberia before her siblings. In a way, despite the horribleness of it, it’s almost fitting in a way that her and Alexei were buried together, and are still apart from the rest of the family. It’s almost like Maria is still saying “I can protect Alexei.” And I bet her parents would be comforted to know that she’s there with him.

Anastasia was super close to Alexei but Maria like all of her sisters, adored their little sunshine so much.
But Maria took after their grandfather, Alexander III, a tall burly man (he allegedly lifted a train cart roof off his family after an accident he was in!). During the execution, she was said to have been trying to break the storage room doors down, and that is just so heartbreaking to me. Maskha was a black sheep at times, O&T called her their stepsister, while A. could care for her a lot but M. would go around after her apologizing for her behavior.
Nicholas once said he thought she was going to sprout wings because of how much of an angel she was. (she stole a cookie and he didn't even get mad, it's one of my favorite quotes about her)

Apparently, it’s actually easy to explain Rasputin’s supposed miracles. For one, he had an amount of knowledge on plants and herbs, meaning he knew to tell the palace doctor to not give Alexei Aspirin, considering it’s a blood thinner. As to lessening his pain, he wasn’t calming Alexei, he was calming Alexandra. Children, especially young children like Alexei often have a heightened emotional state when their parents are distressed. With Rasputin having an ability to reassure and calm the Tsarina, it has the reciprocal affect of helping to calm Alexei, and thus reducing his pain and allowing his body to focus on repair, rather then stress or pain

What's tragic is that Queen Victoria didn't want Alix to marry Nicholas because she knew it would not be safe for her there. She predicted Russia was too dangerous. She made Nicholas move to a different palace which suited her liking better, she gave the Tsar wrong advice and constantly reminded him of how powerful he was, and that the working class of Russia along with the peasants were just insane and unhappy due to their idiotic selfishness and jealousy of the nobility. She was very self-centered and rarely ever listened to others. She knew she held control, and that is why her power fell with her selfishness and desire for more power and comfort.

I'm a huge Romanov History Buff
Been researching them for almost ten years now, read so many books on OTMA, my cat is named Anastasia Nikolaevna, she acts just like Malakaya, a little brat LMAO. Anna Anderson is my most hated person in history.
The entire murder horrifies me, knowing that each sister screamed and cried for Mama and Mashka banging on the doors to try to escape. Olga and Tatiana were killed quickly while their youngest sisters suffered so greatly. Knowing Anastasia most likely died outside is horrific. The entire thing only took 20 minutes and I couldn't imagine the terror in that cellar that night. As Olga Nikolaevna said once "I am so glad, I do not live in such barbaric times."

George V was told by many advisors and the government at the time, that by allowing the Romanovs to come to Britain, the same thing could happen to them especially since they were at war with the Germans who were under the leadership of George V's and Nicholas II's other cousin, Wilhelm II. After the news spread that Nicholas II was killed, George V was in deep mourning and felt guilty for the death of his cousin. He had no clue as to what happened to the family. I watched Anastasia today, and it was a really nostalgic movie to me since I watched it as a child once and now that I’m older I can understand what is going on in the movie. After watching Anastasia I desperately was in need to know what happened to the Romanov family and how the Russian revolution started, learning about vlad Lenin and Rasputin literally made so much sense to me, it connected so many dots from the movie. This video completed my research of the execution of the Romanov family, it’s sad because the kids were 100% innocent, they had a long life ahead of them but were brutally murdered because of something they weren’t involved in.

Simple way our history teacher taught us why Nicholas II failed as a Tsar was the reason he said Yes to pretty much everyone. And that not going to work in a long run.

It makes me so.... It makes me feel so helpless and pissed that these kids died for nothing. They were gruesomely killed after being lied to and it just grosses me out, it's finally settling into my head that I can't just hop back in time and save them.
Their fathers actions have nothing to do with them and they were far to young for anyone to tell what they could've done in the future.
Those poor children have were murdered. And 104 years later it still makes me feel hollow & ill.

Alix was a curse that fell upon the Romanov family. She had total influence on the tsar and made decisions for him. She was very out of touch with the people, their poverty and reality. Her own sister Elizabeth tried talking sense to her but she a very stubborn woman wouldn't listen to anyone's advice. She was overly pious, arrogant and obsessed with her son Alexei and mysticism. If she had been a responsible mother, she would have gotten Olga and Tatiana married off as both of them were in marriageable age. If they had been married off, both of them would have survived the massacre. Tsar Nicholas was a very weak and spineless man who brought his downfall upon himself by listening to his wife and dancing to her every tune. The revolution might not have happened if Nicholas had married a different woman.

They did not include the fact that it was Prince Phillip's DNA used to identify them. As he was the closest relative alive to both the Tsar and Tsarina. The Tsarina is his grand mother's sister while with the Tsar is through the Danish line which ruled Greece. Also all of them are descendants of Queen Victoria.

Pretty good info. I read a few books on the subject two years ago for the centenary of the end of the Great War. Nicholas II missed an earlier opportunity to establish a constitutional monarchy similar to the one his relatives in England have. His father had entertained the idea and would’ve gone with it had it not been for an assassination attempt on him. The then young Nicholas II was so traumatized and angered by it that he closed his mind to the idea once and for all. Unfortunately he wasn’t that great of an autocratic ruler, and when he abdicated the provisional government couldn’t get a grasp on things either. Russia was in dire need of help long before the notion of Marxism ever gained a foothold in the people’s minds.

I've read as to how they were murdered and its heart breaking shooting them all, including their staff and servants, to death, including bayonet or stabbing them. And even that wasnt enough because they threw their bodies in acid and burned their bones and they had to rebury them twice. They even killed their pets.

I read a very convincing theory that one woman actually was a Romanov. And it would make sense. Instead of coming forward and saying it outright, she hid from everyone. She only told one person her secrets and after she died they did testing that found similarities. I'd love to believe that one survived to have their own lives.

They also used a dental appointment where bones were cracked/fractured during a dental appointment while pulling wisdom teeth on the left side of my face. Much pressure was applied for a period of time. A collagen plug was placed on the top after being pulled but not the bottom. This occurred about 1 year ago and is still healing. The wisdom teeth on the right of my face still need to be pulled.

We’re always made to feel sympathy for these powerful families despite all that the monarchy has done and all the families they quashed themselves. These people paraded themselves in wealth and divine right while the rest of their people starved. Yet I’m supposed to feel sorry they met a quick end through firing squad while during the zenith of their power, they can have people tortured, starved, frozen to Siberia with a flick of the wrist?

Maybe the children should have lived but Nicholas reaped what he sowed. Humanizing despots should point to the fact that the only rule forward should be democracy, not to paint these ordinary humans with immense political power and “divine right” as saints.

In my city in Serbia there are some Romanovs who survived by escaping to Serbia, now their family members live completely normal life, they own Romanov Travel Agency. By the way, they were trying to get recognition in family and family wealth for a long time now, but they didn't have success because Russia silences them, the only way then can succeed in that is by paying lots of money but unfortunately they're unable to afford that

Disney hided so much of the story. The funny thing is that every country has their side of the story and that sucks so bad. His assassinated grandfather was the one who had really started to instigate change. When he died, his heir who was the father of Nicholas more or less went back to the old ways so I don't know whether Nicholas would have learned that much had his father lived longer and showed him more.

6:13 - you say that Rasputin was from Serbia, when in fact he was from Siberia.

8:50 - you say Rasputin was with the royal family in March of 1917, but he was killed in December of 1916.
