Hi Tracey! Your videos changed my life!
I was wondering if you could do a more detailed video on Somatic anxiety disorders especially what causes it.
I have experienced many years of child emotional stress and I believe that at one stage my body couldn't handle the stress and I developed or triggered this disorder. In the past two years I was back and forth to the doctors for standard blood tests, and I even saw a specialist to check if my symptoms was related to cancer. Of course the doctors didn't find anything wrong with me which is why I'm convinced I have somatic anxiety.
I experience the following symptoms almost every single day even when I'm not anxious:
- dizziness (like how you described it in one of your videos where you aren't necessarily spinning but you feel like you are about to faint)
- fatigue
- blurry vision
- derealisation or brain fog
- poor concentration
- occasionally breathlessness
- occasionally sore chest and abdomen
- Occasionally a choking feeling
- Occasionally heat coming from my head
- sweating hands
- unexplained shakiness.

When I am anxious I don't worry about normal things. I more overthink about my past and the actions and words of others even if they aren't bad.

When I was a child (in the 70s) I used to fantasize that in the distant future information like this would be readily available to me in an instant whenever and wherever I wanted. I didn’t know how. I had science books but never enough or access to enough books. I’m glad I lived long enough to experience the net and great channels on YT like this one. Thank you, Dr. Marks.

@Anonymous Mobster Social media certainly has its downsides but there are may positive aspects, too. Social media tend to magnify dysfunctional or toxic behavior that is already there. OTOH, it allows people to keep in touch with family and friends, find people that were important to them that they have lost touch with, and find people that enjoy the same hobbies or have the same values as themselves.

I had a friend in high school who seemed "normal" in every way but one: She was convinced that David Bowie (the musician/actor RIP) was in love with her. Given the chance, she would tell anyone and everyone this. She also had a collection of ongoing lies around this theme; for example, she missed school because David had asked her to join him in England and help him out of a song writing rut; or she couldn't go out because David was going to call and she had some suggestions on a specific "top secret" release that was about to drop. If someone innocently said something like, "Oh yeah, I just love David Bowie!" She would say something like,"Really? Would you like to meet him? I can arrange that you know." Sometimes when she'd pull out an album of his to play, she'd hand the inner sleeve around and gush about "how exciting" that it was that David had "finally" recognized her in the thank yous or writing credits. When someone would point out that her name was not there, she'd respond with surprise, examine it closely, and say something like,"Oh yeah, you're right....this is the American release. They wouldn't let him put it on there for copyright reasons. But he still managed to get it on the UK release, which is all that really matters. Sweet, sweet David, always thinking of me." Everyone in her family knew she had this delusion but they thought it was funny and that she was just kidding around or "pretending." I don't think she ever got treatment for it.

I remember she was confessing her love with one of the guys (that guy has a girlfriend and he told her about it), the guy panicked and said he thought they were friends and if in anyway he made her getting the wrong idea he's sorry. Then the guy stopped talking to her. She told me she can feel that the guy was so much in love with her but due to some irresistible cause he can't tell her....... So I agree with you, that can get really bad for those men.

So I have this childhood friend she has been having this severe delusion of men falling in love with her (including supervisors at work, married men, men have kids) for few years. For example, she thinks her previous married manager was falling in love with her because he gave her a lot of projects and tasks to do...... I recommended her to try therapist once. After she talked with the therapist, she said it’s no use and she felt like she was CURING the therapist. I felt like it’s the same kind of delusion with your friend?

I had a somatic delusion while I was pregnant with my first son. I was convinced I had a parasite growing inside of me. I only told my husband and a good friend about it. She even joked after I gave birth that he wasn't a parasite after all but a perfectly healthy baby boy. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I had so much anxiety over it. It kind of makes more sense, now, because that's when all of my mental health issues began. About 6 months after he was born, I developed severe anxiety and depression, bad enough to be diagnosed with post-partum depression.

He's migrated from serious clinical topics to psuedo-sci analysis of sensationalist topics in a murder-of-the-week type content. It's the difference between steak and MickyDs. Or, between The Times and The National Inquirer. Or Walter Cronkite v Geraldo Rivera. Not judging. Both say something about our society. Both meet a need. Both have a market..... Perhaps that's the point in the referral (i.e., maladaptive daydreaming is not a serious clinical issue?) There are other reputable, quality YT channels out there, but they tend to focus on ONE specialized issue in great depth (e.g. PTSD or Narcissistic PD). Dr. Marks, you are the only one I know of that is so multi-talented, articulate, knowledgeable, succinct, witty, and conscientious in your presentations STILL. A+ doesn't get better than THIS. HERE. Yes it's not a diagnosis it's just a description of a behavior. Some people daydream a lot and it may not be that maladaptive for them. Consider fiction writers, for example. The ability to daydream full story after full story defines their career. The maladaptivity comes in when someone cannot function in various areas of their life due to the intrusion of the daydreams.

There are levels to this. One is something everybody feels at one time or the other due to anxiety or esteem and another is an extreme like what my friend has. He literally thinks that everybody in a motorcycle is after him. He sees hundreds of cars chasing him at once. He sees doctors giving him medicine and changing it into poison. He sees the numbers on his ID as a number which is being followed by the cops and Illuminati. He sees a crow and says someone has put it there to spy him. He sees his house help eyes changing and putting witchcraft items under his couch. He has stopped all work and abandoned his projects. He thinks I'm a demon.

a good subject for a video would be determining OCD from delusional disorder, contamination vs infestation etc. I see many patients with either psychosis or severe OCD that ride the line between obsession/delusion.

I have severe OCD (contamination and harm) and the most maddening thing about it is that I know I am crazy but cannot control my bodies triggered actions or functions or tell the thoughts NO once they get going. Yes I can logically see why a 4 hour shower is unnecessary and yet knowing that does not enable me to leave that shower.

Not a doctor, but went to therapy for OCD. OCD sufferers tend to be aware that their fears are unrealistic, but can't help the extreme anxiety that accompany them (hence compulsions). It's the awareness that these thoughts are not realistic, or that are likely false, is what determines whether they're delusional or not. An OCD sufferer can become delusional if there's poor insight and they firmly believe that their fears/thoughts are true beyond a doubt, but from what I know it's less likely, since in OCD it's commonly observed that sufferers are in fact aware of how "ridiculous" their fears are, or that their fears are just a possibility rather an the absolute truth. People suffering from delusions tend to firmly stick to their delusions and think everyone else is wrong, whereas typical OCD sufferers are desperate to seek proof that their fears are not true.

We have found that many psychiatrists do not have good training in identifying and treating DD, especially those who did their training over 20 years ago. But it is so important to read a lot on it and help get the diagnosis right.

I would love to speak to you on this subject. Can trauma cause temporary delusions? I was delusional for over a year and forgot who my family and fiance were then randomly one day I "got my mind back" but by then, my life had already been ruined. I did have for a short time , very hard time, persecutory delusions, yet at the same time i was very aware that the emotional stress was the reason for those thoughts. It was so strange, feeling acutely that people was "talking about me on my back" , and at the same time telling myself "that is not true Clara". This lasted about 2 years. I cured myself ....

great explanation, I have a sister border line cluster B, my family tried to get an idea what was wrong with her since childhood, and then more recently ( she is now 73) all this disorganized view of the world is much more studied. We cannot handle this, but at the same time we tried both deal and keep her at distance.... She keeps thinking she is a very smart person, and can do whatever she pleases. So tiring .... we never knew why she decided Never follow the minimum rules. No medical approach in the '50s and anyway she didn't cooperate with doctors.

I have a close relative and I believe has these delusions. It started with her believing she had parasites eating her brain. She lives alone in NY and we live in the south. She has been to several doctors that have explained to her she has no parasites but she won't listen. I want her to move back home but she won't. She always thinks some one is plotting on her behind her back conversations go on and on about all the people that are jealous of her and trying to get her. I don't know what to do to help her. I can't drive to NY and hit her over the head and drag her home....NY is full of people that have no one and end up on the streets... I dont want that for her....I dont know what to do....help.....😒

I know you can’t get through all questions but I’ll still give my situation a go.
I started to have a lot of irrational fears since the time of watching a scary video a few of my classmates in 5th grade coaxed me to watch. Since then I was afraid of a certain being that would hunt me and try to kill or posses me or my family. Because of that I wasn’t able to sleep on my own and I needed to stay near my parents for comfort because when I was alone I believed the being was near me. I couldn’t go to certain places of my house like the kitchen because I was convinced he was there. I would get panic attacks and call my family members to come over because I was just that afraid of smth I don’t even see.After about a year of not sleeping on my own I was finally forced by my parents to sleep in my own room which led to me finding distractions to preoccupy myself until 5 am which I believed to be the time that the being wouldn’t touch me because it was too bright and early. This ruined sleep continued until now , I’m currently 15. I still am somewhat afraid of the being but now I’m convinced that someone is following and stalking me. I hear weird sounds and always check to see what’s wrong and get very anxious and leave the area and sit in my room. I am afraid the person I think is following me is looking at me through the window and recording me. I see running shadows from the corner of my eye thinking it’s the stalker and I also see hallucinations of bugs which I sometimes swat and realize they disappear before I swat them. I have intrusive thoughts of ppl I see on the street , of them doing smth to me, for example if they open their car door I’m convinced they do it so that they can strangle me and kidnap me. So it’s weird I don’t know if this delusion is just part of me being a teenager or something. I would like to know what is going on. Thank you

Hi Dr. Tracy. I have a question? What is “thought disorder?” I have never heard of this psychosis or mental disorder, and my son has recently been diagnosed with having “thought disorder.” He has been admitted to a mental hospital where I live, and they said that he was in severe psychosis.

-------- how young/old is he....who made decision to institutionalize him ------ needless to say you have good insurance ------- to be put into a mental hospital for that condition sounds excessive ------ was he a harm to himself or others ------- visit him often ------- if You don't see any improvement get him out of toxic environment... could make him worse ----- please seek unbiased opinion outside of the setting ----- hospitals of all types are in "business" even state/county run (free to citizens) facilities to make money empty beds are looked at by administration as lost revenue ------ health care is the most expensive enterprise on earth from birth to last breath is all about the almighty dollar ------- hard core proof is when nurses of any given hospital have no other choice but to walk out and strike for fair wages, benefits ---- where the hell is all the money going they only charge $21.50 ---- for two tylenol ------ I wish your son the best of health and well being ----- God Bless

Thank you so much for this video. I find it helpful to have the list of all the types of delusions someone may have to not just fixate on one or tell people they're crazy when I'm not a licensed professional and don't know how many things it could be for them. But I do know it really doesn't make things better to give a possible label to an insecure person. Situations get tense and I want to shout the label because my anxiety is up and I'm hoping that knowing what the behavior is caused by leads to empathy and de-escalation of conflict. It's not an insult, but an already weak person will feel insulted and keep attacking. It's harder to ask them questions to help them look at how measurable is the reality of their delusion, especially when a jealous or erotomanic type of delusion is being shown and someone already wants to hurt me because they saw disheveled clothes or their favorite person said hello to me. Worst of all when there is also ASPD, BPD, or schizophrenia. Being told there is a point past which the police will arrive is convincing for most but not everyone.

Hi Dr. Tracey, I appreciate your videos and all the information you share. I'm very curious about delusional disorder in particular as I know someone having it. How can I tell the difference regarding the following, if someone has peresecutory delusions, would it be delusional disorder or psychotic depression with persecutory dellusions? If the person is having these persecutory delusions all the time coupled with grandiosity and some mixture of jealosuy and somatic as well? I am assuming somatic because the main delusions are about being poisoned by everyone including family and freinds because they are superior to everybody else. Therefore the poison is making them feel very ill and causing never ending symptoms in the body that their body is now damaged and dysfunctional, suspecting they even have cancer. I mean, can someone have a delusional disorder with almost all the types? There is also the jealosy aspect of accusing his wife of cheating on him with everyone and that his children are not his. I know you talked about mixed type but wow, im still a bit confused about how can a delusional have all. So if there is gardiosity, it couldnt be psychotic depression, right? And from what I've seen it is a late onset disease, and my question is if the person gets it when they are older in their 60s does that mean that they had some undiagnosed issue from before like PPD or NPD? Or can It just happen to someone who was mentally healthy? I asked a lot of questions and I know you addressed some of them before. It's just that this disorder is very confusing and very distressing to the person afflicted with but also too hard for those close to them due to the lack of insight of the one afflicted as they refuse to get help and the constant accusations and abuse. I’m glad you explain clearly in these videos. Everybody has intrusive thoughts..mood swings..sometimes miss hears a voice thinking it was a ‘ghost’..feeling family are against you.. I guess eveyone would want at least 1 celeb they fancy to like them back of course 🤣😳it’s nothing to worry about it’s all normal but people like myself with anxiey can sometimes over think maybe this is me and when watching these videos (I’ve binge a lot of your videos for education) you can see that your not going insane,crazy or ‘not normal’ and anybody who has these symptoms can feel safe in your videos and seek help.
I can’t imagine what it feels like to have BPD, Psychosis, ect I hope eveyone who watches these videos seeks help if you need to and always remember you’re human who is still worthy of love !

What a great explanation of paranoid delusion. That’s exactly how my mum is. Doctors and others initially thought it was early onset dementia but I put two and two together and realised she was always paranoid, but covid iso precipitated her symptoms and magnified them m’as she didn’t life to forget the issues into. She is now wrapped in her stories… very sad to witness. At least understanding is very useful for children and supporting family members.

Dear doc, in the past you have brought up about how THC can be a culprit for psychosis. As someone with unipolar depression and PTSD, I personally feel THC helps me cope with symptoms of both my depression, helps prevent flashbacks and can stop them when they happen. So what I guess I'm asking is what is your opinion on THC/Marijuana, can it work somewhat as an anti-anxiety and/or an antidepressant, and in what ways does it lead to any possible psychosis? I also take an antidepressant everyday and a benzodiazapene for moments where I can't just be lighting up smoke around people. Thank you for your videos they are very informative!

I have bipolar disorder and I know to take my meds But still when I'm under stress I have mistrust and think my family members are using me. I know better but at the time I'm experiencing it,it feels real. I always take my antipsychotic meds But still have that in my mind. Persecution,paronoia,and guilty feelings are always in the back of my mind. I would like to know more ways to deal with that.

Same! I can take all the meds they give me...but any form of stress causes me to experience mania and psychosis. I've found that ppl seem to like to stress me out when I ask them to leave me alone just so they can see how my illness manifests and then they just up and leave after or during the episode...it's so evil to do that to someone who already tries to keep from having an episode with ppl. I always end up having to sleep 3 days straight to recover.

@Angela Barrera I suffer from schizoaffective disorder. When someone does not promptly respond to me, I think they no longer want to be my friend and that I did something to hurt or offend them. Yes, I try to remember they are busy or something came up. I also try to keep engaged with one of my activities so the wait does not seem too long. This is not easy for me as I usually respond to people within a day or two.

I suffer from the same thing as you. What I do to combat the mistrust and negative thinking is I challenge my thinking. For example, if someone didn't call or text me back, instead of thinking they're ignoring me or that I am just a burden to them, I will ask myself if maybe they could have just been real busy or maybe their phone died. Once I start doing that, I usually come to the conclusion that all my negative thinking isn't true.

None of us are altogether immune to experiencing a delusion for even a short period of time before we get a hold of ourselves again. How else for example can us women explain why almost all of us at times when feeling overwhelmed are so hard on ourselves sometimes when it comes to our own appearance? What I and others would find much harder to understand is when a public figure during a pandemic while everyone is spending more time following people on social media believes that one of their followers is in love with them only because they are the last one most of the time to leave comments after jumping to a conclusion on only one comment that was offered by the last one there most of the time in the comment section under their video and then on top of it all the delusion goes like wild fire in mass hysteria gossip among the public figure's inner circles when nothing could be further from the truth.

@T42 although I kind of agree. I believe most mental illnesses are caused. Especially in the case of dissociation. I understand a lot of the biological factors that can contribute. But! I believe most of the main factors are external from the environment that can be retrained or even mostly healed without damaging the brain further.

@Dr. Tracey Marks It also seems to me, as just an observer and not a clinician or doctor, IMHO, that hate and bias are learned and can therefore be unlearned, which is hopeful. Mental illness, on the other hand, has an organic component to it. Certainly traumas, learned behaviors/modeling can contribute to its acuity, but the organic components can only be solved through either ECT, neroplasticity reprogramming techniques affecting the symptoms
(e. g. Thought stopping, deep relaxation, etc.) and medications, especially in severe disorders like psychosis, dissociation, and depression. Thoughts?

Very interesting video! Can delusions be about anything or do they have to fall into these categories? You mentioned mixed type, but are those just features from more than one of the other types? Sometimes when I'm depressed I can get convinced that everybody hates me and that I'm the source of everything bad in the world, but that's not a delusion is it? At least not like these ones. Or take body dysmorphia, where you have false perceptions of your body that very negatively impact your life. That's kind of in the same vein, but not classified as a delusion (I don't think?). Where does the line go?

My mother is 63 now. She's been holding to this belief that her neighbors are watching her every move and impeding her from leaving her life at its fullest. It does seem to come and go in intensity, and only the closest family members know about it. My mom has been exposed to abandonment and trauma many times in her life. I just wish I could help her, but she doesn't want to seek help nor accept it. She became a lot like that after getting a psychology degree at the age of 57 and having a heart attack at the same year. The woman is hilarious, yet messy. I love her anyways. 😂

I think a video solely on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (might be the same thing?) would be helpful for me. I have severe health anxiety; I obsess over my physical state and health nearly all the time. You made a great video about this disorder, but I hardly understand how CBT will work for me, considering how my disorder manifests itself.
For example, I fear having a heart attack and facing an untimely death. Thanatophobia is a big factor for me as well. In response to my fears, I am heavily restrictive on my diet, avoiding all fats and cholesterol for fear of giving myself heart disease. I avoid excessive movement, because the increased heart rate freaks me out too much for me to handle.
How would a professional even begin to tackle these problems with CBT or REBT? It seems so impossible at times for me.

I'm so glad you uploaded this video Dr. Tracy. I have a patient who I believe suffers from Delusional Disorder. I believe she is a somatic and a persecutory type (mixed). She is always worried that she is sick and always make appointments to check her chest, her heart etc and she is also obsessed with thoughts that people might hurt her or that they re making a conspiracy about her. Two years ago she was prescribed with Villamos. I would love to know your opinion regarding treatment.

I had to look up the Villamos because it’s not used here in the US but the closest thing to it is Olanzapine which is an antipsychotic medication. In my experience it’s been fairly hard to treat, meaning it doesn’t seem to respond as well to antipsychotic medication. I think sometimes people can improve but it seems like it’s pretty difficult to make the delusions go away completely. That said, I have not treated a lot of people with delusional disorder because they often don’t come in for treatment because their delusions typically don’t cause a lot of problems for them. But when people have a lot of somatic delusions they can become pretty preoccupied and impaired. I hope the olanzapine at least helped her focus less on her delusions

I just learnt in this video that I must have a grandiose delusion. I always believed that I was either surrounded by idiots or that I had incredibly great talents and skills. Indeed, I have many diplomas, many academic achievements, I've met many important people. I worked at top world universities, I advised governments, I've had a wonderful career and my books are read by millions. I always believed that no matter how hard something seems, I am able to do it. I and only I can do it (and a few others who just don't want to do it). And I always did it. I'm not afraid of challenges because I simply feel that yes, I can. This has been my state of mind ever since I was about 14. I've always believed in God, I've often prayed and He was my inspiration. Am I in need of a doctor? Am I mentally ill? Doctor, what do you recommend?

Would knowing your delusions are delusions make it no longer a delusion? What if you have delusions like those mentioned in the video but you sense that it is kinda off so you don't do anything and just let it exist in your head?

Can you post a video about Bipolar Psychosis specifically? Including both clinical symptoms (positive & negative), cognitive & functional impairments. I was told by my psychiatrist that delusions and hallucinations of BD are more based in reality and that they are different in some ways than Schizoaffective or Schizophrenia psychosis. I also liked the maladaptive daydreaming idea.

I went through psychosis and it was horrible. People always say about thoughts and voices and visual hallucinations, nobody ever tells you they add up and up and everything can add to it, then people dont realise that your thoughts could tell you little bombs are being implanted in your body by things out of sight but your body and brain can generate the actual feeling of needles going into the skin and little bombs going off or nerves and muscles being pinched and the sounds too, it hurt, nobody told me it could be that bad ever

is there evidence/research that suggests specific areas of the brain can be dysfunctional and produce certain mental disorders?
if my understanding is correct, temporal lobe seizures can produce hallucinations.
and toxoplasma gondii can produce different altered behaviors in males and females (Robert Sapolsky, Stanford; can provide link).

Great question the answer is yes and yes. Functional neuroimaging is advancing our understanding of what parts of the brain are affected in certain disorders. And yes temporal lobe epilepsy can produce hallucinations. And in those folks it gets tricky balancing anti-psychotics with seizure medication

@Aurora9990 I deleted my answer (yeah I'm paranoid and often delete comments I've made on the internet). My advice was to try and distract the person from their delusion. Don't argue it with them or inadvertently reinforce it but keep talking to them about something concrete like "what would you like for dinner?", "Oh it's really been some rough weather we're having huh?". Ground them in reality by talking about real concrete things that can distract them from their delusions.

I am dealing with delusional people all the time. I have been accused of things I didn't do. A neighbor I was friends with cut me off because "I was talking about her in the community". It was bizarre--didn't happen.
I had to convince another neighbor her delusion wasn't true (she has schizophrenia and is in denial). She was convinced the doctors were stealing parts of her granddaughter's eye during surgery (she had an eye injury) and selling them on the black market. She decided that was why her eye wasn't perfectly healed. I had to explain to her no surgery is 100℅ guaranteed. It is not magic.
There are more. Can you convince someone they are delusional? How does a doctor get them to take meds?

@Lame Duck oh man that's rough. My partner's wife died trying to manage her insulin levels in her sleep. It was too high. She would forget all the time. I personally have frontal lobe executive function difficulties myself. So i don't eat or shower even though i want to. My brain just doesn't have the get up and go it needs to function. I'm on abilify now and I'm making food and cleaning like i used to. It's been 3 wks on it and it changed my life. I would go all day not eating. I couldn't form a cohesive thought or remember what i needed to do. I just wish the elderly had a med that could help them. Since most meds have black label warnings for them. Yet they suffer similar executive dysfunction.

Hello Dr. Marks :) I've missed the premieres of your last (two, I wanna say) videos. When you post these videos I often hear you say something to the effect of "This video is based on a user question." I have one :) We don't hear much as clients, at least in my experience, about serotonin syndrome and those at risk for developing it. Can you talk about what it is perhaps, and what comorbidities and concomitant therapies increase concern about developing it... is it an emergency? and/or associated with NMS or, differently, metabolic syndrome -- anything at all that covers it would be really cool to learn about. Thx.

What worked for me was a mixture of group therapy with a mixed group (various different diagnoses), medication, cognitive behavioral therapy and just making the decision that I was more concerned about what would happen if I was wrong about people being monsters than being right. It was pretty hardcore but over time the symptoms lessen and I've been able to function for the last nearly 20 years without medications.

I can't promise similar results, but be aware that no matter what they tell you, with proper treatment and a huge amount of commitment, it is possible to recover or at least to have the symptoms subside enough to lead a good life.

I don't know if this is the best place to ask this, but could you please do a video on hypnosis sometime? What is it, to what extent is it legitimate, and what things can and cannot be achieved under hypnosis? It is hard to find bona fide information on this topic because searches seem to mostly turn up sites of hypnotists, many of which have the appearance of being charlatans. I would greatly appreciate hearing your own thoughts on this topic!

I have bipolar type 1 and borderline, and I actually enjoy psychosis. I use it spiritually, creatively, and sometimes in the name of psychological experimentation. I have had positive psychotic episodes which were very enlightening and expansive. I’m not quite sure why shamans are allowed to trigger psychosis for their personal development and not be deemed crazy. Why is it acceptable to trigger psychosis for healing via drug use, but not naturally to achieve the same effect? I have had terrible psychotic episodes, don’t get me wrong. That said, once I learned how to navigate them without medication I began to use them for personal growth. Why is this wrong in the psych community? Why are we dissuade from exploring this safety?

Yeah mine was Grandiose type. It was during 2018, and I was having lots of delusions. I think it was because I had depression. I was only 12 that time.

I was diagnosed as schizoaffective disorder, I do have the fixed permanent delusions, but in the last few years I've been hearing voices, they go along with my delusions

@Michael Montoya I haven't inquired recently, but originally when our family first had him hospitalized and diagnosed, his delusions were grandiose in nature. Now? I'm not sure but I do know he still hears voices total disorganized thinking/living are the main symptoms he lives with now. He always had issues sleeping normal times

I’ve experienced this pain for a while now but I’m on a cocktail of drugs to quieten things down...I’ve been diagnosed lately with eupd and COVID-19 has interrupted my day to day routines...life is hard enough without Covid urgh! Too much time on my hands and sleep disturbance doesn’t help with my comorbid diagnoses...😕 dr marks’ vlogs on here are very helpful especially at this time of confusion and uncertainty as I’m unemployed but watching these uploads weekly actually gives me a sense of hope that Recovery really is possible and building a life worth living is within arms’ reach...do I make any sense at all today or am I a bit delusional? So, my thoughts that my team lead wanting to replace me with someone else so she can pay less for the same job is delusional? This is after making me take two pay cuts in the past two years. The first pay cut, she texted me about it and then told me I was a valuable employee and the second, she said that was the way it is and If I didn't like it, I could leave. After, I was put through a job evaluation and was scored for top marks across the board. I asked if there was going to be any pay compensation for dealing with Covid as I deal with a lot of people in the public and was given a letter of no increase due to Covid. She has no one above her to monitor her activities. The funny part about this is after hours, we get along great and help each other if necessary, but I end up with the feeling of who watches the watchers bothering me.
Maybe, I just need a different job as I have had other offers of different companies wanting me, but I like the people I deal with now.

My mom is in her early 50s developed Delusions disorder with hallucinations and auditory hallucinations for about 4 years she’s been having this belief that her neighbor is out to get her she even moved places because of this delusion and she still believes that this lady lives above her and its still out to get her. Shes been hospitalized several times for acute psychosis and is on antipsychotics but she still continues with her delusions and hallucinations. Shes even gotten in trouble with the police because she calls them all the time regarding the lady upstairs. It is possible that she has late onset schizophrenia??? She is constantly paranoid and hallucinating she has let go of her self and her home, she doesn’t talk to anyone beside me and a few other people anymore because she always hearing this lady say things about! Her psychiatrist tells that she is just psychotic but i think it has to be more than that another psychiatrist told me that it could be because of menopause but if that was the case i think a lot more women would be crazy. Plz help…

Is it possible to have delusional disorder with hallucinations? I’ve experienced delusions (mostly persecutory and grandiose, but also some of them are related to obsessions and self-harm) and hallucinations (hearing voices but I’ve also taken meaning out of lights and shadows), but my delusions and hallucinations have never led to global psychosis. Mostly they’ve been in the background for years and years until I realize they aren’t true.

Hi Chubby tubbs I wouldn’t be able to answer your first question without more information it comes to dealing with the thought of death. People deal with it in different ways personality and beliefs. OCD doesnt necessarily lead to depersonalization. The two can occur simultaneously without one causing the other

My mom seems to possibly be suffering with delusional disorder. But i want her to get an official diagnosis. I want her to get help and improve our relationship , however I struggle at times with her staying consistent with therapy. She’s open to the idea however will miss appointments.
