1. The Sub… Read Full Bio ↴There has been more than one band known as The Submarines
1. The Submarines are composed of John Dragonetti, who previously performed as Jack Drag, and Blake Hazard, who is the great-granddaughter of novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald. The romantically involved couple collaborated on Hazard's 2002 album Little Airplane, but ended their relationship soon after. After they resumed their relationship, the duo recorded Declare A New State! in 2006 as The Submarines. Since then, Hazard and Dragonetti have married and recorded two further albums as The Submarines: Honeysuckle Weeks (2008) and Love Notes/Letter Bombs (2011).
In 2006, the duo's song Brighter Discontent was used in the fourth season finale of the American television series "Nip/Tuck", in which the characters of the show lip-synched the entirety of the song.
The duo's song You Me & The Bourgeoisie was used in a commercial for the Apple iPhone 3GS in 2008. Another Submarines song, Submarine Symphonika was used in a subsequent commercial for the iPhone 3GS later that year.
2. The Submarines are also a band formed in Glasgow, UK in 1985. Members include Paul MacNeil, Craig Keaney, Brian Kane and Scott Blane. They released their debut single on Head Records in 1987.
In 1989 they changed their name to Compass Flow, recording a session for the BBC Janice Long show. Since 2004, there has been renewed interest in this band since Firestation Records included their song I saw the children on The Sound of Leamingtom Spa Vol 4 Compilation, and Egg records released a compilation of their material, titled Telegraph Signals along with a couple of tracks Take Me Away, Down Through the Room on their label compilation Souvenirs from Egg Records.

Stringing you along
But the love you make today
Could be the one to take you home
Strain to see what else is going on
But here you are and can you love
The way you're living now
And faith can make you wild with hope
But now is where you are
Ready or not
We're gonna be here tomorrow
Whether or not
You've stopped your wondering
Ready or not
We're gonna be here tomorrow
Wild with hope in spite of everything
No we won't let
Self-doubt drag you down
And no one here would try
To keep you from the things you want
Think you'd like to leave us all behind
But here you are and can you love
The way you're living now
Cause you are here and who you are
And faith can make you wild with hope
But now is where you are
Ready or not
We're gonna be here tomorrow
Whether or not
You've stopped your wondering
Ready or not
We're gonna be here tomorrow
Wild with hope in spite of everything
Does every day feel like
A brand new chance to fall apart?
Seems like nobody else
Could ever understand
Does every day feel like
A brand new chance to fall apart?
And all the while
You're only doing the best you can
You can, You can
Cause you are here and who you are
And faith can make you wild with hope
But now is where you are
Ready or not
We're gonna be here tomorrow
Whether or not
You've stopped your wondering
Ready or not
We're gonna be here tomorrow
Wild with hope in spite of everything
We're gonna be here today
We're gonna be here today
The lyrics to The Submarines’s song “Ready or Not” encourage listeners to stay present and grounded in the present moment, rather than constantly searching for more or focusing on what could or should be. The urge to want more is described as “stringing you along” and the idea that the love you make today is what could ultimately fulfill you is emphasized throughout the song. The lyrics suggest that it's important to let go of self-doubt and not give into the temptation of leaving everything behind to search for more.
The chorus reiterates that the band will be there for the listeners, whether or not they have stopped their “wondering” and are fully present in the now. The song also touches on the feeling of isolation that can come with constantly striving for more and not feeling like anyone else can understand your struggles. The song encourages listeners to remember that they are doing the best they can and to have faith and hope for the future.
Overall, the lyrics of “Ready or Not” are a reminder to stay present and not get caught up in constantly wanting more, but rather appreciate the love and stability that is already present in your life.
