[1] The O.C. Supertones (a.k.a. The Supertones) were a Christian ska band hailing from Orange County, California. The O.C. stands for Orange County and was formally used to differentiate them from another group, but they generally were referred to as The Supertones by fans and publicity, especially as of their second album. The band was formerly signed to Tooth & Nail Records before becoming an independent band for its final tour. Beginning with a more traditional ska sound, the Supertones moved next to a harder rock sound, which eventually changed again with more of a pop-rock influence.
The band began in the early 1990s as Saved. Originally formed by Matt Morginsky, Jason Carson and Tony Terusa while in Junior High School, the band played a mix of many styles including punk, rap, metal, disco, and funk. In 1995 they formed as The Orange County Supertones and settled on a ska based sound.
In the late 1990s The Supertones achieved wide popularity in the Christian and secular community. Their second album, 1997's release Supertones Strike Back, was a surprise smash hit, peaking on both Billboard's Heatseekers and Top Christian Albums charts at 3 and 2 respectively. Beginning with a more traditional ska sound, The Supertones moved next to a harder rock sound, which eventually changed again with more of a pop-rock influence. Their next two albums, 1999's Chase the Sun and 2000's Loud and Clear, each charted on the Billboard 200 chart. They continued to release albums until 2005, at which point they went on indefinite hiatus. This ended when they reunited for some shows in 2010. Since then they have had stints in 2012 and 2017, performing various reunion and anniversary shows. Their 2017 commemoration of the 20th anniversary of their most well-received album "Supertones Strike Back" was presented as a definitive "final show".
[2] The Supertones are an "instrumental surf" band from NYC active since 1988. They have released at least 12 albums.

I think there was a problem with my reception (on my satellite, on my satellite)
It seemed like a section of my soul was having trouble with the signal
I was trying but it just wasn't pickin up
I guess the frequency was stuck
And my heart corroded shut
I couldn't tune in to the station that was telecasting my salvation...
But I wanna hear it now
And sing along again
I just don't know how
I lost that frequency but now it's coming in.
Yeah it's coming in!
In a room full of doubters You were the sure one. (You were like a light, You were like a light)
In a town of compromises, You are the pure one. (I think You got it right, I think You got it right)
It was water to my soul to hear You singing so honest and simple
I seek to be sophisticated,
But I make it complicated
I over elaborated but now that I have contemplated
I'll write about the love of Jesus and his mercy that never ceases
And I wanna hear it now
And sing along again
I just don't know how
I lost that frequency but now it's coming in.
Yeah it's coming in!
It was foolish to be jaded that the cross was intgraded
I remember Jesus said you either love it or you hate it
I didn't know the words in my heart I was singing with You
And I wanna hear it now
And sing along again
I just don't know how
I couldn't find it then
And I wanna hear it now
And sing along again
I just don't know how
I lost that frequency but now it's coming in.
The Supertones’s song “Transmission” laments the difficulty in finding and maintaining a connection to God. The first verse describes the struggle to hear God’s voice over the noise of the world. The singer compares the search for God's truth to tuning a radio to the right frequency. They were trying to listen in and reconnect with their faith, but it wasn't easy. This created a problem with their reception, making it difficult for them to hear the transmission clearly. The second verse describes the value of finding someone who believes in Jesus in a world full of doubt and compromise. The singer was moved by the honesty they heard and the message of salvation that was being telecasted.
The chorus expresses a longing to hear the transmission and sing along again, even though the singer has lost the frequency. The bridge reflects on the singer's previous misconceptions about the meaning of the cross and their realization that they didn't know the words in their heart when they were singing with Jesus. It is a call to leave worldly desires and complications behind and focus on the love and mercy that never ceases. The final chorus repeats the desire to hear the transmission and sing along again, but now the frequency is coming in.
The song reflects on the difficulty of staying connected to God in a world full of distractions and problems, emphasizing the importance of honest and simple faith. It encourages listeners to focus on the gospel message and to find a way to tune in to it once again.
