Better Days
The Uncontrollable Few Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've seen many better days
You stabbed me in the back right in my face
You said that you would be around
But all I did was laugh when I was down
I'm breaking out cause that's all I know to do
I'm waking up from the dream of loving you

Better days, better days
There has to be some better days
Better days for me
Better fish out there in the lovin' sea

You got me so addicted
But much to your surprise I've gone and kicked it
The load I carry is much lighter
Even my laundry is getting whiter now

I'm coming home because I've nowhere else to go
I'm movin' on cause there's so much more to know

Better days, better days
There has to be some better days

Better days for me
Better fish out there in the lovin' sea

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Better Days" by The Uncontrollable Few express the pain and disappointment one feels after being let down by someone they trusted. The opening line, "I've seen many better days," sets the tone for the song, suggesting that the singer's life hasn't been going well lately. The subsequent line, "You stabbed me in the back right in my face," reveals who's to blame for the singer's suffering. The tension between these two lines is striking, implying that the singer once thought their life was good, or at least better than it is now, until they were betrayed by someone close to them.

Hats off to these men, the paddle out must be brutal 😰 then finally catches a wave and it's a closed out!

Love the content, but would love to see some shots of the full struggle of getting under the wave

Awesome Brad! Love your channel. We had a memorial last Saturday for Tom Morey at the Manhattan Bch pier. Was surfed that day as well. It was huge!

I love ur vids keep up the good work Brad. Nice to see how beach breaks work because here in Barbados all beaches are rocky, coral floored and most good breaks on low tide are a walk over reef. W love from Barbados!

If Yves had a hard time paddling out, I never would have made it! 20 years ago yes. πŸ˜€

🀩 WOW! No thanks bra. Even 40 years ago that didn’t look fun. Great looking waves and sizable but I’ve never fancied beach breaks. We used to get Moss Landing perfect back in the 70’s but it was brutally cold πŸ₯Ά. In my prime, I remember going up to San Francisco and there were perfect waves but I only lasted 20 minutes before being rendered worthless. Crappy wetsuits and 5 degrees colder than Santa Cruz was really brutal. I really respect Northern California πŸ„β€β™€οΈ. I used to be one. Went down to Hazzards at Cayucas? Montano del Oro and this was 1972-1974 with just a handful of local’s, my friends but it was actually 5 degrees colder than Santa Cruz. Really good 6-8 reef break but again our wetsuits sucked and I only lasted 30 minutes, just like San Francisco. I guess I wouldn’t have changed a thing except for the wetsuits…..LOL
