Rather Be
The Verve Lyrics
There's no evil introductions
No dark corridors of fame
You won't find your fortune
You might find some pain
I wanna lie, lie together
Feels like our last embrace
In a world full of confusion
Yeah the human race
Is there anywhere better than here?
You know these feelings I found, they are oh so rare
Is there anywhere better than here?
Sometimes life seems to tear us apart
I don't wanna let you go
Sometimes these feelings hit me, I start to cry
'Cause I won't ever let you go
Oh my my my my we're multiplying
Always living under some cloud
Always on the eve of destruction
Make you wanna scream out loud
And as I watched the birds soar
Mighty lies and wishes spun
Oh mama mama why I'm still crying
Oh now the day is come
'Cause I'd rather be here than be anywhere
Is there anywhere better than here?
You know these feelings I found, they are oh so rare
Is there anywhere better than here?
Sometimes life seems to tear us apart
I don't wanna let you go
Sometimes these feelings hit me, I start to cry
'Cause I won't ever let you go
But I'd rather be here than be anywhere
Is there anywhere better than here?
You know these feelings I found, they are oh so rare
Is there anywhere better than here?
But I'd rather be here than be anywhere
Is there anywhere better than here?
You know these feelings I found, they are oh so rare
Is there anywhere better than here?
Sometimes this feeling hits me
Sometimes this feelings hit me
These feelings are oh so rare

The band was formed in 1989 at Winstanley College, Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones and drummer Peter Salisbury. Simon Tong later became a member. The band originally split in 1995, but reunited in 1996 to great commercial success. They split once more in April 1999. The band reunited once more in June of 2007, but this reunion was short lived, despite the release of the album Forth in 2008, and the band split again in August 2009.
Beginning with a psychedelic sound indebted to space rock and shoegazer music, by the mid-1990s the band had released several EPs and two acclaimed records. They also endured name and lineup changes, breakups, health problems, drug abuse and various lawsuits. The band's commercial breakthrough was Urban Hymns and its single Bitter Sweet Symphony, which became a massive worldwide hit.
Soon after this commercial peak, the band quit amid creative struggles within, and Ashcroft went onto a successful solo career. Tong briefly joined Blur as a replacement for Graham Coxon. It is rumored that Simon Jones did a studio album with Ari Pap of the Floor Monks called 'Aint Nothing To It' and was never released because they both had bigger projects going on at the time. Close family and friends assure us its a fabulous indie/rock/alternate album and they really wish it would have been released.
The Verve were chosen to close the 2008 Glastonbury festival which they did with a set based on the classic 1997 album 'Urban Hymns'.

I love this song, is more deep than it looks for me, a song that if you are depressed, you can feel how the lyrics describe what are you feeling and that thought of ''I guess better be here than anywhere'' that keeps you pushing a bit more and don't do something stupid.
The magic of this song is that, when you pass that depression status is when you really understand the meaning of the song. At least for me is about a "happy" acceptation of what is life, sometimes you are in deep shit, and some others you are full of joy.
Is a song that makes you be greatfull for being human "you know this feelings I have found they are all so rare, is there anywhere better than here?" If we wouldn't have bad moments, we wouldn't enjoy the good ones.

This is what I thought of this song too

Desde mi punto de vista este grupo es el mejor, pero la gente no supo apreciarlo bien y solo un album salio exitoso, por favor, busquen más temas de este grupo, es uno de los mejores de los años 90s sin duda.
