They appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone in October 2002 (the first Australian band to do so since Men at Work in 1983) with the words "Rock is Back: meet the Vines" boldly emblazoned underneath. Referred to as the 'The' bands, The Strokes, The Hives, The White Stripes and The Vines combined "old fashioned punk and adrenaline fuelled riffs" to be ushered in at the beginning of 2002 as the "saviors of rock".
The Vines have been moderately successful in the Australian recording industry, winning an ARIA in 2002 for Breakthrough Artist and receiving nominations for six other awards in as many years. In 2003, their debut album Highly Evolved went double platinum in their home country of Australia, and since then the band has released six albums and a "Best-Of" compilation from their time at Capitol Records.
The band started to record their 5th album in February 2010. The album recording was completely finished in mid March, with mixing taking place in Sydney at the end of March and mastering taking place in early April. The album, "Future Primitve," was released in June 2011.

Nothin's Comin'
The Vines Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Got nothing I wanna lose
Round and round and back again
Grin upon my fuckin' head
Nothin's comin'
I feel your death
Nothin's comin'
Fallin' in or outta space
So sick of our human race
All for one ain't nothing real
Tell you how I fuckin' feel
Nothin's comin'
I feel your death
Nothin's comin'
Nothin's comin'
Nothin's comin'
Nothin's comin'
The Vines's song Nothin's Comin' is a melancholic yet powerful track that explores feelings of loss and despair. The lyrics are fairly straightforward, but there is a lot of depth to be uncovered in the song. The opening line, "Tell where I'm going to, got nothing I wanna lose," sets the tone for the rest of the song. The singer is lost and directionless, with no clear sense of purpose or motivation.
The line "Grin upon my fuckin' head" is particularly interesting. It suggests a certain level of detachment or detachment from reality, as if the singer is aware of the absurdity of his situation but can't do anything to change it. This theme is carried through the song, with references to feeling disconnected from the world and a general sense of disillusionment.
The chorus, "Nothin's coming, I feel your death," is particularly haunting. It suggests a sense of finality and hopelessness, as if the singer has given up on ever finding happiness or meaning in life. The repeated refrain of "Nothin's comin'" drives this point home and reinforces the sense of despair that pervades the song.
Overall, Nothin's Comin' is a powerful track that captures the sense of hopelessness and disillusionment that many people feel at various points in their lives. It is both bleak and beautiful, and the lyrics are well-crafted and insightful.
