The inside is beautiful, but the exterior, holy Hades. It doesn’t go with the rest of the neighborhood at all. Too big, too dark, too much. It’s not inviting or welcoming. It doesn’t say “Hi, neighbor.” It says, “Go away, we’re making a snuff film.” 😳

All these shows could work on reusing some of the material when demolish the house. That roof could totally be reused, some of the beams could be reused. Americans are obsessed with "all things new".

Yes, it has some stunning features, but, no salvaging, filling up landfills instead. Have they heard of the Habitat for Humanity organization to recycle?
What about parking?
Is that a flat roof? In Chicago? Are they aware of snowloads?
If the owner didn't have time to do any supervision of the construction how often will he actually occupy the house? It seems like one gigantic ego trip. Even tho there are some striking features, it does not have the feel of a home.

"A neighborhood with old homes that need a modern touch. This old house has structural damage and just isn't big enough!" I call baloney. They could have repaired the old house. Leave it alone and build a new house somewhere else. No reason to tear down houses. Some of the houses they've repaired on Home Town have been basically falling down shacks.

For once I don’t hate her work. But. Black homes are incredibly bad for the environment because cooling them costs so much more money, and she’s built a giant house with a giant fence in a neighborhood of large houses with large open lawns. That neighborhood is not the right place for that house.
