TWS have not looked back from that moment. They have enjoyed performances across the continent, from folk festivals to concert halls to full symphonic backing, they have been on national and international TV and radio shows, they have five recordings, three Juno nominations, three videos (all of which received full play on CMT) and Best Group award in the folk category of the Prairie Music Awards. They have also been included on numerous compilations and have been hired to write and record theme music for video and TV shows. Much of their music, such as 'Warrior', 'The Faucet', 'Farewell to Clayoquot Sound' and 'Leave a Little Light' has been covered, recorded and sung by performers and choirs from across the globe.
The Wyrd Sisters have, like any family (and long time band), changed and evolved and grown over the years. Original founding member, principal writer and lead stage personality Kim Baryluk has remained the constant thoughout the band's existence. Like groups such as 'Sweet Honey in the Rock' and 'The Flirtations,' where members have come and gone over the decades, the band continues to create the same beautiful music and carry the same inspirational message as it always has.
International critics have recognized the original sound The Wyrd Sisters have created with a fusion of folk/jazz/pop/blues as being a uniquely Canadian sound which sets the standard for up and coming singer/songwriters.
Everything And More

I will turn my life around
I will turn my face from west to east
ready for the high tide now
I am trading in my lies for truth
the price of daring to look back
at all the things that caught me here
it's everything and more than that
I was such a long time coming
down this blinding road of faith and fear
and all the things I ran from
were all the things that led me here
a simple act of bravery
another stone turned back
a look inside the darkest corner
it's everything and more than that
it's everything and more
it's a truth told once and once again
shown out loud, known within
it's love believed and love held fast
it's everything and more than that
everything and more
I guess we're always travelling
down this blinding road of faith and fear
and all the things that hold us back
are all the things that keep us near
to one more act of bravery
one more stone turned back
a look beyond the darkest place
we are everything and more than that
we are everything and more
it's a truth told once and once again
shown out loud, known within
it's love believed and love held fast
it's everything and more than that
everything and more
I will take the road less travelled
I will turn my life around
The lyrics of "Everything And More" by The Wyrd Sisters speak about taking a different path, being honest with oneself, and finding the courage to face one's fears. The first stanza talks about changing one's direction and turning towards the high tide, which could be symbolic of being open to new opportunities and experiences. The singer acknowledges that she has been caught up in her lies and bravely looks back at her past. The phrase "everything and more than that" could mean that after coming clean, she has discovered more than she expected.
In the second stanza, the singer refers to her journey as a long and blinding road of faith and fear. She mentions that the things that she previously ran from led her to where she stands currently. The phrase "it's a truth told once and once again" suggests that she has discovered some important lessons, which have been reiterated to her over time. For the singer, this truth is something that she has come to know both inside and out. The last stanza reiterates the message of the song - that bravery, self-acceptance, and holding onto love are important in life as well as discovering all that we are capable of.

I stumbled on this by accident (looking for Macbeth resources for a class I'm teaching), and was stopped in my tracks. Wow. Just Wow. If they were formed in 1990, I suppose it's far too much to hope for that they're still around and making music as Wyrd Sisters?

Dear Rob, thank you for your message, sorry I didn't see it before. This is a beautiful album, a real masterpiece which I frequently come back to. A wikipedia page states that their last album was published in 2008, and I cannot find any info about them after that. Search youtube for their core mebers to find recent works they have individually, specially Kim Baryluk, Kiva Simova and Nancy Reinhold. If you are interested, I can send you this album in mp3. Actually, I got it directly from Winnipeg some 15 years ago on a CD as a gift from an internet stranger, so I would like to share it as much as possible!

@petvrg Hi there! Thank you so much for the reply and information! I will definitely have to do some internet sleuthing! This song led me to "Warrior", which absolutely blew me away! I can't believe I've never heard of them before finding this by accident. It truly is my loss! Your offer to send me the album is most gracious of you and appreciated - I'm teaching at an international school in Niger, and have literally no way of getting anything tangible from Amazon. If there's a way I could receive this from you, I would be very grateful! That said, I have no idea how to accomplish that (I'm in my early 60's, and not exactly a tech-whiz...). You obviously would need my email address (yes?). Is there a way to get it to you without posting it here for the world to see? Thank you!
