Now I would like to introduce to you
Professor Makashanti
International Professor of Dubology, Dub,
Poetry
Reasoning on a rhythm
Music for the 8O's, 90's, thousands
Internationally, Universally, Extra Cosmic
Sounds of the new sensation
Covering the Territory Universally
What I'm talking about is
Everyday Movements, Everyday Movements
Everyday Movements on top of the dub
Dig it ... hear me now

(Chorus "A")

In a time like this
Some positive changes got to come your way
Some positive changes got to come
(Repeat)

(Chorus "be")
Who gone before who go already
That your inspiration to carry on
(Repeat)

(Chorus "A")

Without apology we no need astrology
Our future is beyond the stars
Take an upfront position make a point-blank
Decision
Don't just run away to Venus and Mors
Every day I hear my people complain
'Bout living in a strange land
But them all hide behind illusion
When it comes a time to take a stand

(Chorus "A" - repeat twice)
(Guitar Solo)
(Chorus "be" -repeat twice)
(Chorus "A" -repeat twice)

Check out today how it used to be
Then you look forward on your plans
Take an upfront position
Make a point-blank decision
Our destiny is in JAH bonds

Every time one drop
A thousand more shall rise
Who looking on with scorn today
Tomorrow looking with surprise

(Chorus "A" - repeat three times)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Third World's song "Inna Time Like This" carry a strong message of positivity, hope, and self-empowerment. The song opens with an introduction to Professor Makashanti, an international professor of dubology, dub, poetry, and reasoning on a rhythm – which alludes to the power of music to communicate important ideas and perspectives on social and political issues. The lyrics also highlight the importance of positive change and moving forward during difficult times: "In a time like this, some positive changes got to come your way, some positive changes got to come." The repetition of this phrase underscores the message that even in challenging times, it is important to maintain a positive outlook and believe that change is possible.

The chorus emphasizes the idea of being inspired by those who have come before us: "Who gone before who go already, that your inspiration to carry on." This suggests that we can learn from the experiences and wisdom of those who have faced similar challenges, and use that knowledge to inspire ourselves and others to make positive changes. The verses also encourage taking action and not being afraid to stand up for what is right: "Take an upfront position, make a point-blank decision, don't just run away to Venus and Mors." The lyrics suggest that it is important to face challenges head-on, rather than avoiding them or escaping to a different place or mindset.

Overall, "Inna Time Like This" is a powerful message of hope and self-empowerment in the face of difficult times. The song encourages listeners to believe in the power of positive change, to draw inspiration from those who have come before us, and to take action in pursuing our goals and ideals.

I was in Elementary school when my older brothers would spin Third World. I literally don’t remember a time in my life when we didn’t jam to Third World. From The Albums Journey to Addis, 96 in the shade, to the 1980’s with Rock the World, You’ve got the Power, Sense of Purpose, All the way Strong, wooooo!!! I literally know them all but I am sure I don’t need to mention them. Anyhow love This band to the fullest. Love to everyone who loves everyone from Calexico California
