Stables has been turning heads in all the right places since 2003: a first album Krülle Bol produced by John Parish , singles (Two Wooden Spoons) released by Rob da Bank’s label Sunday Best and a long-awaited second album on Dreamboat Records in 2010. Wriggle out the Restless was born out of a new, slower way of working. Gestated over a long period the album has drawn on This Is The Kit’s many musical friends (Rozi Plain [[label]Fence ], Jim Barr [of Portishead ] Francois [Fence] and The Liftmen [[label]Twisted Nerve]) to fill out their delicate music into a full, robust sound. “The aim was to have fun playing with people who’s work I really like” says Kate “the more you exchange and share with people the better things get and the more you learn.”
This Is The Kit perform regularly as a two-piece with Stables on vocals, guitar and banjo, and Vernon on violin, guitar, bass and percussion.

Greasy Goose
This Is the Kit Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
For all of it outside and in
For all within your skin
For all that coats your wings
Seeping out holes in your skin
Nice oily cormorant's wing
Hang out to dry
Good and greasy goose
Pink footed sing
Go on then pink footed sing
The lyrics to This Is the Kit's song Greasy Goose have a dreamlike quality to it with mentions of limbs, wings, and skin. The first verse talks about everything that makes up a person - both physically and mentally. The second verse mentions a greasy cormorant's wing hanging out to dry before diving back in. The imagery of a greasy goose is used in the chorus, with an invitation to the pink-footed goose to sing.
Many interpretations can be drawn from these lyrics, but one common theme is the idea of embracing one's true self - both the good and the greasy parts. It's about accepting all the different aspects of oneself and being confident in one's own skin. The line "for all within your skin" is especially poignant, emphasizing the importance of self-love.
Overall, Greasy Goose is a beautiful song with a powerful message about self-love and acceptance.
