dozivam te rode
priko 9 šuma
i velike vode
po prašnjavom putu
ti uz rijeku kreni
kad zapiva sokol
sve si bliže meni.
Nemoj ići lijevo
na križanju staze
tu ne ide niko
svi se zvijeri paze.
nego ajde desno
do velike stjene
gorske će te vile
poslati do mene
Daleko daleko
iza devet sela
Daleko sam ja
Gdje su vuci vile i hajduci
tamo gdje sam rođen ja
Daleko daleko
iza devet sela
Daleko sam ja
gdje se zvijezde
kao ptice gnjezde
tamo tebe čekam ja
čuješ li me kako
dozivam te rode
priko 9 šuma i velike vode
budit će nas sunce
velikoga sjaja
a u zraku miris
moga rodnog kraja
Daleko daleko
iza 9 sela daleko sam ja
gdje su vuci vile i haduci
tamo gdje sam rođen ja
Daleko daleko
iza 9 sela daleko sam ja
gdje se zvijezde kao ptice gnjezde
tamo tebe čekam ja.
Daleko daleko
iza 9 sela daleko sam ja
gdje su vuci vile i haduci
tamo gdje sam rođen ja.
Daleko daleko iza 9 sela
daleko sam ja
gdje se zvijezde
kao ptice gnjezde
tamo tebe čekam ja.
(tamo tebe čekam ja)
Tamo tebe čekam ja
(daleko daleko iza 9 sela)
The song "Iza devet sela" by Thompson is a melancholic folk ballad that portrays a person who is longing to be reunited with a loved one who is far away. The songwriter uses imagery from nature and mythology to convey a sense of longing and hopefulness to the song's protagonist. The song begins with the singer calling out his lover's name to the birds, asking them to carry his message to her. He describes the path she should take, along the river and past nine forests and great waters, and he promises that when she hears the falcon's cries, she will know she is close to him.
The singer warns his lover not to take the left path at the crossroads, where dangerous beasts roam, but instead, she should go right, where the mountain spirits will guide her to him. He tells her that he is far away, past nine villages, where wolves and bandits roam, but he asks her to come to him where stars nestle like birds. The song ends with the singer expressing his hope that the sun's glow and the smells of his homeland will awaken them both, and he repeats his plea to his lover to come to him.
The music video for the song features images of rural life, forests, mountains, and rivers, and shows the singer wandering through the countryside, calling out his lover's name. The video's director, Danijel Kovač, explained that the video was meant to evoke the feeling of being lost in nature and searching for something.
