moja nisi, a cija ti si
sicam te se, kako ne bi
lazem sada samom sebi
Dao sam ti srce svoje
samo zbog lipote tvoje
na tom polju prosute
Ref. 2x
Zeleno, zeleno je bilo polje
zlatno sunce iznad nas
Ladna vodo, krvi moja
sad mi triba snaga tvoja
napoji mi ljubav moju
da joj pivam pismu svoju
The lyrics of Thompson's song "Zeleno je bilo polje" talk about the memories of the singer with a girl he used to know. He admits that she was not his, and he cannot deny that he remembers her and misses her. The melancholic tone of the lyrics suggests that the relationship was short-lived or did not go the way he had hoped.
The main theme of the lyrics is the feeling of nostalgia and lost love. The line "Ej, divojko, lipa li si" translates to "Oh girl, how beautiful you are." The singer is reminiscing about the times they spent together and how he wishes things could be different. The line "Dao sam ti srce svoje" translates to "I gave you my heart," which shows the depth of the singer's emotions towards the girl.
The chorus of the song, which mentions the green field and the golden sun, adds to the imagery of the memories he has of the girl. The last stanza, "Ladna vodo, krvi moja, sad mi triba snaga tvoja napoji mi ljubav moju da joj pivam pismu svoju," translates to "Cold water, my blood, now I need your strength, quench my love, so I can sing my song to it," suggesting that the singer wants to move on but still feels attached to his memories of the girl.

"Izgubio sam previše prijatelja, vidio sam previše ljudi kako plaču, previše patnji. Više su mi puta predložili da izađem iz Vukovara i vratim se u Francusku, ali ja sam ostao. Izgubili smo. Znao sam da će biti teško, ali nisam mislio da će biti tako strašno, osobito za civile. Ja sam kao dragovoljac došao u Vukovar. To je moj izbor, i u dobru i u zlu. Zašto kao dragovoljac? Jer mislim da im treba pomoći. Zbog toga sam izabrao njihovu stranu. Što za vas zapravo simbolizira Vukovar? Klaonicu. Klaonicu. Klaonicu. ,,,,,, ---------- Jean-Michel Nicolier -------- RIP
