A Girl Can Dream
Three of Hearts Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

As a girl I always knew what my heart wanted to do
But you can't get far on those little country roads
At night I'd stare at the stars
On the hood of our car
And take a ride on a silver moonbeam
Wishes come true
I know they do
A girl can dream

I've done so many things I set out to do
But the dreamer in me hasn't changed
No it hasn't been easy
And I've made mistakes
But I've come such a long long way
I still stare at the stars
But they don't seem quite as far
And I can hear Mama saying to me
Wishes come true
I know they do
A girl can dream

I've done so many things I set out to do
But the dreamer in me hasn't changed
No it hasn't been easy
And I've made mistakes
But I've come such a long long way
I still stare at the stars
But they don't seem quite as far
And I can hear Mama saying to me
Wishes come true
I know they do
A girl can dream

Oh wishes come true

They will for you
A girl can dream

I saw this film last night. I went alone because I’m a lonely person and don’t have anyone to enjoy films with. The only other person in the audience was a young man sitting alone a few rows behind me. For a brief moment I thought it was sort of romantic that two lonely people took themselves to a movie about love and loss and weren’t completely alone while privately sharing in a sadness that was created by this beautiful film. Once the credits rolled he couldn’t have left faster. He practically sprinted to the door. I hope he enjoyed the show as much as I did. The music was immaculate. The acting superb. I cried for the greater part of the film. So happy I was able to experience it in theaters. Thank you to everyone involved.

I just watched it. The movie was beautiful, personally I wasn’t an enormous fan of making it a musical but I cried and cried all the same. Dinklage is perfection, and (until he starts singing) when you watch him you forget you’re seeing a period piece, or acting at all (it’s not that he can’t sing his singing is beautiful, but the mastery of modernizing period poetry was lost in the tone of the music). Roxanne is stunningly cast, I believe so easily her warm affection and her gentle perfection in Cyrano’s eyes. Christian is okay, but after watching this feature and finding he’s supposed to be dorky and no game, I think he should have been recast. He wasn’t convincing as an awkward, inarticulate lovesick ball of nerves. By the end of the film I found myself rooting against him (which I assume isn’t the point) because his inability to convey his depth or feeling for Roxanne, and especially his eagerness to carnality with her and his treatment of Cyrano (right up till he finds the tear on the letters) made it feel as if Roxanne loved for body mind and soul, but Christian appeared more infatuated. That balcony scene really said it all. It really felt like he was just letting Cyrano do all the earnest earning of Roxanne’s heart, and once he succeeded he swooped in to claim the physical fruits of his labors

Well, I saw it and it was amazing. Peter Dinklage said everything through his facial expressions. He is a great actor and the other actors were wonderful as well. I went alone as well and happy that I did.
