Born and raised in São Paulo, after winning several "battle of bands" festivals in "sampa", Tiê studied music and composition in New York before touring with Toquinho (a major name on MPB, Bossa Nova) around Brazil and the world. Back in São Paulo, Tiê developed her style by bridging two different worlds: the local alternative/indie scene and the Bossa Nova/Tropicália sounds of the previous generation. Her list of influences range from Caetano Veloso to Syd Barrett.
"Sweet Jardim" ("Sweet Garden") was recorded in an analogical studio with acoustic guitars, cello and piano – and all the silences filled with breathing, exhaling and dialogues among the musicians – all in a lo-fi, live soundscape. Tiê wrote all the ten songs and plays most of the instruments on the record - which was produced by Plínio Profeta.

O que você me deu
Eu mandava embrulhar
Chamaria de meu
Melhor forma não há
Pra guardar um amor
Então preste atenção
Vem, me faz um carinho
Me toque mansinho
Me conta um segredo
Ou me enche de beijo
Depois vai descansar
Outra forma não há
Como eu te valorizo
Eu te espero acordar
Se eu ousar te contar
O que eu sonhei
Pode até engasgar
Pagaria pra ver
Melhor forma não há
Pra provar meu amor
Eu te presto atenção
Tento ser sua flor
Vem, te faço um carinho
Eu te toco mansinho
Te conto um segredo
Ou te encho de beijo
Depois vou descansar
Não vou te acompanhar
Espero que entenda
Vem, te faço um carinho
Te toco mansinho
Te conto um segredo
Ou te encho de beijo
Depois vou descansar
Não vou te acompanhar
Espero que entenda
E volte pra cá.
The lyrics to Tiê's "Te Valorizo" express a deep appreciation for the love and care received from a partner, and the desire to show that love and care in return. The song opens with an image of wanting to show the gift of love received: "If I could show / What you've given me / I would wrap it up / And call it mine." The singer goes on to proclaim that there is no better way to hold onto love than by paying attention and valuing it, and suggests that buying flowers is a good way to do this: "The best way / To hold onto love / Is to pay attention / Or buy me a flower."
The chorus invites the partner to come closer and express their own love, through touch or words: "Come, give me some love / Touch me gently / Tell me a secret / Or fill me with kisses." The singer promises to be there for their partner, even if it means simply resting beside them: "Afterwards, we'll rest / There's no better way / That's how much I value you / I'll wait for you to wake up." The second verse continues in a similar vein, with the singer wanting to prove their love and offering tenderness: "If I dare to tell you / What I dreamed about / I might even choke / I would pay to see it happen."
Overall, "Te Valorizo" is a sweet and tender song about cherishing love and showing affection in simple ways, and the emotional depth of the lyrics is matched by Tiê's delicate and heartfelt vocals.
