Rosario was born in Higuey, a province in the Dominican Republic. Since childhood, he and his brothers showed interest in music, even playing self-created instruments like bottle caps, plastic containers, and others. Soon they started singing and playing in the neighbourhood and started what would later be known as Los Hermanos Rosario with whom he enjoyed great success later.
In the late 80s, after 12 years with his brothers, Toño decided to abandon the group and started his own solo career. He debuted April 14, 1990 in the Roberto Clemente Coliseum of Puerto Rico. He went on to become one of the most popular merengue singers with some of his albums reaching platinum status.

The song "Kiliki Taka Ti" by Toño Rosario is a celebration of his Dominican roots and his pride in being Dominican. In the opening verse, he declares his loyalty to his roots and his country, singing "Dominicano soy, de mis raíces no me voy a olvidar" which means "I am Dominican, I will not forget my roots". He goes on to describe the beauty of his land.
The chorus of the song is the catchy "Kiliki Taka Ti" which seems to be a nonsensical phrase that is just fun to sing along with. However, it is actually an onomatopoeic representation of the sound of a drum beat. The song includes a humorous back-and-forth between the singer and his pianist, with the pianist repeatedly being told that he has not played anything. The song ends with Rosario thanking his audience and bidding them farewell.
Overall, "Kiliki Taka Ti" is a fun, upbeat song that celebrates Dominican culture and identity while also incorporating elements of humor and audience interaction.
