In The Blue Of Evening
Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra & Frank Sinatra Lyrics

There in the dusk we'll share a dream reverie
In the blue of evening, while crickets call and stars are falling
There 'neath the midnight sky you'll come to me
In the shadows of the night we'll stand
I'll touch your hand and then
Softly as your lovely eyes entreat
In the blue of evening, night winds above whisp'rin' "I love you"
There will we find romance in the blue of evening
The lyrics to Tommy Dorsey's song "In The Blue Of The Evening" are filled with romantic longing and promise. The opening line "In the blue of evening, when you appear close to me, dear one" sets the scene for a romantic encounter between two people. The use of the color blue connotes a sense of calm and tranquility, suggesting that the evening is a time for rest and relaxation. The word "dear one" suggests that the singer has affection for the person they are singing to.
The second line of the song "There in the dusk we'll share a dream reverie" uses carefully chosen words to create a sense of enchantment and intimacy. The use of the word "dream" emphasizes the fact that this is a moment of magic and fantasy, where two people can share a moment of perfect harmony. The repetition of the word "evening" throughout the song emphasizes the importance of this moment in time and suggests that it is something that is special and sacred.

Reading the book βcountdown 1945β and this song was messaged in a chapter that mentioned a young woman working in the production of the atom bomb- remembered that this song was playing when she first met her boyfriend who was a soldier during the battle of the bulge. Wanted to experience why they remembered music. Interesting. Big band music was wonderful for sure.

Baby making music. Though with most of the good ones off to war, there weren't many guys around to make babies with. That would all change in about three years.
