In 1973, he recorded the album Beto Guedes, Danilo Caymmi, Novelli e Toninho Horta (EMI). His first solo album came in 1980, the independent Terra Dos Pássaros, which was released in the U.S. in 1995 (WEA). Ó, rainha
Saguin
Te vejo nos sonhos
Te sinto no ar
Menina
Ó, rainha
Te confesso, o meu coração
Já não sabe onde ir
Se você o desvia da rota
Que eu tanto me embarco
Menina
Ó, rainha
Saguin
Não me importa o tempo que faz
Uma lua se esconder
Se você é o sol que me queima
Na veia do amor
Não me importa o tempo que faz
Uma lua se esconder
Se você é o sol que me queima
Na veia do amor
Menina, ó rainha
Saguin
The lyrics to Toninho Horta's song "Saguin" express a deep longing and affection for a woman referred to as "Menina" and "Ó rainha." The singer sees her in his dreams and feels her presence in the air. He confesses that his heart no longer knows where to go, as she diverts it from the path he had set for himself. Despite this confusion, he doesn't mind the passing of time or the hiding of the moon because she is the sun that burns passionately in the veins of love.
The song captures the intense emotions of love and devotion. The use of the term "Saguin" adds a mystical and almost mythical quality to the woman's character. She is portrayed as both alluring and powerful, with the ability to disrupt and redirect the singer's heart. The repetition of the phrases "Menina, ó rainha, Saguin" emphasizes the importance and significance of her presence in his life.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of surrender and vulnerability, as the singer acknowledges the impact this woman has on his heart and willingly embraces the fiery intensity of their love.
