Toxic Narcotic was formed with the intent of mixing their favorite elements of punk and hardcore into an original sound with some nihilistic lyrics. This mix of brutal music with extremely energetic shows has created a large local and national following of people from different genres of underground music. The band has toured almost constantly for the past ten years all over North America and Europe. Aside from being the support act on several national tours, Toxic Narcotic has done countless DIY tours and has played with almost every band imaginable in every conceivable location. The band has self-released most of our own material from the very beginning on Rodent Popsicle Records, a label formed by the members of the band in 1992. Rodent Popsicle Records has grown to be one of the largest punk labels in New England and has put out almost one hundred releases to date. The label has helped dozens of local Boston area bands and booked countless shows for local and touring bands large and small.
Toxic Narcotic’s personal belief is that respect and integrity are more important than image and popularity. This is why we have always incorporated whatever style of music we want in our sound with no regard to what people think of us or trying to fit into any one specific clique or genre of underground music. We do not care what genre you choose to classify us as, nor do we care what people think of us! We choose not to rehash old musical styles by sounding like our influences, but rather create our own unique sound like a lot of the bands we are influenced by were doing in their time. Because we mix all kinds of styles into our music we have fans from every genre of underground music. We do not prefer any one group of people or subgenre of punk music over another. The band believes in unity in the so called scene but not at the cost of accepting ignorance from someone just because they dress the same or claim to have the same political views! We judge people by their character and actions not by their words or dress!

Ruined
Toxic Narcotic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Our future was destroyed before we had a chance
[Chorus]
Ruined the rest of your life
Ruined the rest of my life
Ruined the rest of your life
Ruined the rest of all life
Just one mistake or release of radiation
nuclear waste for a thousand generations
[Chorus]
Just look at this society
So proud of what they're doing
Before we ever had a choice
They left this world in ruin
The voices of millions have been silenced by the few
The poisons of their progress is what's slowly killing you
To change the course of their mistakes there's little we can do
The lies have been exposed and were dying from the truth
The one day before has become out last
Humanity destroyed and our cities turned to ash
[Chorus]
Toxic Narcotic’s “Ruined” is a politically charged song that raises awareness about the effects of nuclear power on humanity and the environment. The song starts with the day when the atom was split, which is considered a major breakthrough in science. However, it is also viewed as the beginning of the end. The lyrics suggest that, as a result of nuclear power, the future of humanity was destroyed before it had the opportunity to flourish.
The chorus of the song "Ruined the rest of your life, ruined the rest of my life, ruined the rest of your life, ruined the rest of all life” is a biting indictment of the destruction caused by human progress. The song also touches on the release of radiation and nuclear waste, which are extremely dangerous and have long-term implications on the environment and future generations.
The line, “Before we had a choice, they left this world in ruin,” speaks to the powerlessness of individuals in the face of institutional decision-making. The song argues that society is too proud of its progress and is not considering the long-term impacts of its actions. The powerful contrast of “the voices of millions have been silenced by the few” highlights the asymmetry of power in decision-making and the lack of accountability.
Overall, "Ruined" is a scathing critique of the nuclear industry. It argues that we need to take responsibility for our actions and consider their long-term implications. The song warns that if we don’t, we will be left with a destroyed world and a ruined future.
