Something More
Train Lyrics

I just opened up my eyes
And let the world come climbing in
It's all better now, things are gonna work somehow
If I just sleep another hour
Tried to reach you at your mom's
Hey baby why you trying to keep away for so long
I stopped feeling good, somehow I just knew I would
I guess I'll sleep another hour
Feels like I'm wasting my time
Hanging on this same old line
Got to get you off of my mind
There's nothing left for me to find

And all the more I want
All the more I need
All the while you want something more
All the more I want
All the more I need
All the while you want something more

Thought I found the words to say
Just to get you feeling fine over heels my way
But it don't matter how
I lost the word and nerve and now
There's nothing more for me to say
Feels like I'm wasting my time
Hanging on this same old line
There's nothing left for me to find

And all the more I want
All the more I need
All the while you want something more
All the more I want
All the more I need
All the while you want something

There's nothing left for me to say
Wanting what I need this way
And when I'm feeling low I know
I need to stop

And someday you will see
All the more you want
All the more you'll need me
All the while I'll be on to something more
And all the more you want
All the more you'll need me
All the while I want something more

I want something more
I want something more than this

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Train's song Something More explore the theme of feeling stuck in a cycle of unfulfillment and longing for something greater. The singer has just woken up and feels as though they're wasting their time with someone who doesn't reciprocate their feelings. They've previously tried to reach out to their love interest to no avail, and though they had once thought they had the right words to win them over, they now feel tongue-tied and defeated. Despite their desire for something more, they seem resigned to their current situation, willing to let themselves sleep another hour instead of taking action to change things.

The chorus repeats the phrase "all the more I want, all the more I need, all the while you want something more," which highlights the fundamental disconnect between the singer and their love interest. They want more from the relationship than what they're getting, but the other person seems content with the status quo. The lyrics express a sense of longing and frustration, as though the singer knows deep down that they deserve better but can't figure out how to make it happen.

Overall, Something More is a poignant and relatable exploration of the human desire for fulfillment and the struggle to break out of patterns that no longer serve us.

FRANK SINATRA LYRICS

"Wait Till You See Her"

Wait till you see her, see how she looks, wait till you hear her laugh,
Painters of painting, drivers of gloom never could tell the height,
Wait till you feel the warmth of her glance, pensive and sweet and wise,
All of it lovely, all of it thrilling, I'll never be willing to free her,
When you see her, you won't believe your eyes. Amen. Shalom.

100 percent agree.
Such a strong album from start to finish.
The bass line on Mississippi is a perfect ender to an album

All dolled up in gabardine

This is by far their best song IMO, I'm trying to figure out how this song didn't do better when it came out, outstanding song!

This has quickly become one of my top favorites from this band. Even though their new stuff is terrific, the Drops of Jupiter cd will always remain their best..in my opinion, anyway. Do they perform this song live at their shows nowdays? I have been searching this site for some live versions, had no luck.If anyone can steer me in the right direction with some concert clips of this song, I would appreciate it!

Beautiful song. I like Train a lot, but it's the first time I hear this song. It's a quite different style from all I heard from them before.
The songwriting - tune and band accompaniment - strongly reminds me of John Lennon's style (especially in the Mind Games album); but, Pat's voice is very different from John's, of course.
I loved it - although, I'm 16 years late to "discover" it!

I played a hole in the cd that this song was on back in the day, to the point that my (now grown) kids knew the lyrics to the whole thing. Let myself listen to this just now for the first time in years, did not have the heart to listen to it as it reminds me strongly of my big sister who passed away in 2009. Brought tears to my eyes hearing those first few chords. I saw them live back before Drops of Jupiter came out, they were still setting up their own stuff even. Charlie Colin gave me eyes all night, always wish I’d had the balls to see where that led :)

Love love love Train. Especially that album.

This was the best part of Train. I have loved them for 17 years and have met Pat, Scott and Jimmy quite a few times. Its only Pat left now but I still listen to all their old songs daily.

I can put this song on repeat, love the chorus.
