Don't Go Don't Stray
Transit Lyrics

Stumbling to the cadence,
Falling into the rhyme
Don't go, don't stray
Stay here with me
And if you need a little fresh air, well
We can sleep on the fire escape
Don't go, don't stray
Be here with me
Just like the birds outside of my window
We can sleep on the fire escape
And leave the radio playing all night, all night
Stumbling to the cadence,
Falling into the rhyme
Leave the radio playing all night, all night
Reciting the words "you were right"
I got a full moon for a spotlight
Don't slow, don't sway
Stay here with me
I need to hear your thoughts in stereo
Spill your sorrow, send the rain away
Don't slow, don't sway
Be here with me
I want to hear your thoughts in stereo
Blue tomorrow till the end of days
We'll have the radio playing all night, all night
Stumbling to the cadence,
Falling into the rhyme
Leave the radio playing all night, all night
Reciting the words "you were right"
I got a full moon for a spotlight
I got a full moon for a spotlight
And I wish you were here
But I never want to find you in the dark
I need to see you
Like a wild fire through an amber heart
And I wish you were here
But I never want to find you in the dark
I need to see you
I need to see you
Leave the radio playing all night, all night
Stumbling to the cadence,
Falling into the rhyme
Leave the radio playing all night, all night
Reciting the words "you were right"
I got a full moon for a spotlight
Leave the radio playing all night, all night
Reciting the words "you were right"
I got a full moon for a spotlight
I never want to find you in the dark.
Transit's "Don't Go Don't Stray" is a song that offers an intimate glimpse into the bond between two individuals. The song invites the listener to join the singer and his love interest in a moment of spontaneity and intimacy. The opening lyrics, "Leave the radio playing all night, all night / Stumbling to the cadence, falling into the rhyme," create a relaxed, carefree vibe that sets the stage for the rest of the song. The lyrics are telling the listener that they’ll have a whole night to be playful, in love and just enjoy each other’s company.
The refrain of "Don't go, don't stray / Stay here with me," is the plea of the singer to his partner to stay present in the moment with him. It's a request to forget any worries and doubts, and just be with each other. The singer also suggests, "We can sleep on the fire escape," which emphasizes the spontaneous, romantic vibe of the song. The lyrics are painting a picture of two people in love, who are just enjoying each other’s company with no plans.
The second half of the song features more pensive lyrics, "And I wish you were here / But I never want to find you in the dark / I need to see you like a wild fire through an amber heart." These lyrics give the sense that the singer is concerned by the idea of being alone again, and wants their partner to be with them always, but is also clear that they want their lover to be happy and strong within themselves. The song ends on a note of longing for their partner to stay, to never leave and always be there for them.

I don't know why everyone was all down on this album. Yes the vocals are a little shady in some spots, but listening all the way through it's the same Transit we all know and love. I love it.
