I Could Be Wrong
Transit Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Right here is where I'll be
I feel it pull so slowly, and I move anyway, I'll hold you throughout
So if I back out now, please don't blame me
But I don't mind
This was always meant for me
As long as you are more than I could ever be
Right here waiting, but nothing's come around
These days, these weeks just fade away
I'm your mother, I'm in pain
But if I could, I'd do it all again
So turn me inside out
Just turn me inside out and you'll all see
I don't mind
This was always meant for me
As long as you are more than I could ever be
Your smile lifts me
Your smile lifts me up
I don't mind
This was always meant for me
As long as you are more than I could ever be
Just be kind
That's how you'll remember me
I know that you'll be more than I could ever be
The lyrics to Transit's song "I Could Be Wrong" convey a deep sense of commitment, sacrifice, and unconditional love. The first verse starts with a declaration of standing tall with someone else, holding their hand and promising to be there for them. Despite feeling the slow pull of doubt or hesitation, the singer decides to move forward with this person, assuring them that they will be supported throughout. However, there is a plea for understanding if they were to back out, indicating that they are overwhelmed by the weight of the situation.
The second verse speaks of waiting patiently for something to happen, but it seems that time is passing with no visible progress. The days and weeks are fading away, creating a sense of longing or impatience. However, in the following lines, a profound statement is made: the singer claims to be the listener's mother, suggesting a metaphorical role of nurturing and protecting. Although they may be in pain, they express a willingness to go through it all again if they could, implying that their love is selfless and enduring. They ask to be turned inside out, exposing their vulnerability for everyone to see, perhaps to emphasize the depth of their commitment.
The chorus repeats twice in the song, highlighting the singer's acceptance and contentment with their role. They have no objections because they believe this was their destiny or purpose all along. However, they emphasize that what truly matters is the person they are dedicated to being more than they could ever be themselves, indicating a sense of selflessness and admiration towards them.
The final lines of the song express how the other person's smile has the power to uplift the singer. It suggests that their happiness and contentment bring immense joy to the singer's life. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the singer's acceptance and contentment with their role, as long as the person they love is able to surpass them in some way.
In summary, "I Could Be Wrong" is a heartfelt reflection on commitment, sacrifice, and unconditional love. It explores the singer's unwavering dedication, their willingness to endure pain for the sake of the person they love, and their contentment with playing a supportive role. Through these lyrics, Transit captures the complex emotions and dynamics that come with deep connections and selfless devotion.
