Today they are one of the longest-standing Breton music groups surviving from the folk-rock revival of the 1970s. A popular live band in France, Tri Yann is famous for their outlandish costumes and theatrical presentation on stage. The band members are multi-instrumentalists, and usually the number of instruments on the stage is usually far greater than the number of musicians.

The first two lines of Tri Yann's La jument de Michao speak of the singer's impending departures in ten years' time. The next two lines speak of the different animals they hear singing - the wolf, the fox, and the weasel. The chorus repeats the wolf's and fox's singing.
The third verse of the song speaks of the jument de Michao (Michao's mare) that passed through the meadow with its little foal and ate all of the hay. The final verse speaks of how winter is coming, and Michao's mare will be sorry for what it has done.
While the song may seem like a simple folk song, there are various interpretations of it. Une des grandes figures de tri Yann vient de mourir. C'était un musicien et un conteur hors pair . Sur scène il mettait la pêche pour faire bouger le public et cela produisait une bonne ambiance. J'en ai des frissons rien que de m'en souvenir. Paix a ce grand homme qui vient de nous quitter et qui nous laisse de bons souvenirs. rip merci à cet homme...

Que de souvenirs de concerts à Nantes et ailleurs...la Bretagne et la musique celtique perd l'un de ses plus grands et fidèles représentants. L'émotion ce soir dépasse la seule frontière bretonne. La Celtie est en berne et Nantes est orpheline. kenavo Jean Paul et merci pour tout.

Je suis allée à un de leurs concerts dans les années 70 quand ils débutaient, il y avait 300 personnes. Dans les années 70, on pouvait leur parler à la fin du concert des instruments acoustiques dont ils jouaient, ils étaient dans la salle en train de ranger leur matériel de sono eux-mêmes. Et puis maintenant, ici, contrée celte aussi (nervienne), le ciel nous est tombé sur la tête, vraiment! C'était de cela qu'ils devaient avoir peur, les gaulois, bretons et autres celtes.
