Live your life like a tree, fall in love, be happy
Free...
Be my bee, be a bee, so happy, so happy
Live your life like a tree, so happy, so happy
Now it's time for us to die, we will fly, we will fly
Meet me there, oh so high, we will fly, we will fly
So I get you won't cry, laugh, laugh, laugh
In my life, be a ghost, in the sky we will fly
Free...
Love, love, we are in love
Love, love, we are in love
Love, love, we are in love
To all of your confession (?)
We are Jesus Christ
"I'm on drugs and Lemmy from Motorhead give 'em to me!"
The lyrics of Ty Segall's song "Bees" appear to be about living life freely and happily. The repetition of "fall in love, be happy" suggests a desire for the listener to experience joy in their life. The comparison to a tree may imply that life should be lived naturally and without restriction, like the growth of a tree.
The following verses continue to repeat the words "be happy" and "so happy" while also asking for the listener to "be my bee" which could be interpreted as an invitation for others to join in on the happiness. The third verse takes a darker turn with the lyrics about death and flying. The line "laugh, laugh, laugh" may suggest a desire to approach death in a positive manner rather than with sadness.
The final lines of the song are somewhat mysterious and cryptic. The repeated phrase of "Love, love, we are in love" could be viewed as a final affirmation of the joys of life and love. However, the final line "I'm on drugs and Lemmy from Motorhead give 'em to me!" seems to throw a wrench in the interpretation of the song. It is unclear what this line means or how it fits into the rest of the lyrics.
