Squealer Two
Ty Segall Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Squealer man, feeling fine
Teething man, working all the time
Squealer man, feeling fine
Teething man, working all the time

Been a change in the parking street
It's the flavor that I like to eat
I see the priestess in her ??? chair
I'm the preacher want to drive you there

Feel the preacher open up your hand
He's your daddy gonna be your man
See the baby in your mommy's chair
It's your daddy

Feel your daddy in the priestess chair
That's your mommy, take her there

Overall Meaning

The song Squealer Two by Ty Segall is a bit enigmatic in terms of its meaning, but there are a few possible interpretations. The lyrics seem to describe two men - the squealer man and the teething man. The squealer man feels fine, while the teething man is working all the time. The lines "Been a change in the parking street / It's the flavor that I like to eat" are a bit obscure, but they suggest that there has been a change in the environment that the singer enjoys. The following lines mention a priestess and a preacher, which could point to a religious theme. The preacher wants to "drive" the listener somewhere, possibly to a spiritual destination.

The next lines are even more curious: "Feel the preacher open up your hand / He's your daddy gonna be your man / See the baby in your mommy's chair / It's your daddy / Feel your daddy in the priestess chair / That's your mommy, take her there." These lines suggest some kind of strange sexual or familial relationship, with the "preacher" acting as a father figure and the "priestess" as a mother figure. It is possible that the lyrics are referencing some kind of cult or unusual religious group. Overall, the song is open to interpretation and seems to leave a lot of questions unanswered.

I wish he would've made more Emotional Mugger stuff. The whole idea is creepy and amazing and that live band is fucking stacked.

DobrePytanie

agreed! Muggers's got to be one of my favourite outlets

One of the best performances of all time IMO. I'm late to the TY bandwagon, but I'm taking a front row seat. Thanks for posting....

There appears not to be a day when Ty Segall is not in a band making music. Lots of bands. Lots and lots.

Is emotional mugger a concept album? I feel like there's an overall theme to the whole album as well as Ty's performances. He acts more insane than usual. And I think that has ties to the themes of the album. What do you guys think?

@JTH Electronics [JTHE] I don't think so, He's been with Denee for a long ass time and they are married now

Skypup In a larger way, emotional mugging is demanding emotional gratification without regard for how it affects the victim of it. The album, with its songs of debauchery and cheap thrills is kind of Ty’s response to how, in the Internet age, with so much immediately available to us, how far off are we from emotional muggers, and how does having literally everything available at our fingertips affect how we conduct ourselves in our personal relationships. Which is why I figure he goes for the baby mask, to symbolize that we’re regressing to the point of needing constant gratification
