Segall began his recording career as a part-time musician in various underground bands in Orange County and the San Francisco Bay Area, before beginning a solo career in 2008. Segall's first solo release was the cassette Horn The Unicorn released on the Wizard Mountain label (later re-released by HBSP-2X on vinyl record). Around the same time, Wizard Mountain also released a split cassette featuring Segall and the band Superstitions entitled Halfnonagon.

Be safe, be safe
When I go will you remember me? When I go will you remember me?
Over the ocean, across the sea, when I go will you remember me?
We will cry for him for now, are talking
We will not, we will not
When I go will you remember me? When I go will you remember me?
Over the ocean, across the sea, when I go will you remember me?
When I go will you remember me? When I go will you remember me?
Over the ocean, across the sea, when I go will you remember me?
Remember me, remember me
The lyrics to Ty Segall's song Where Your Head Goes appear to be a reflection on mortality and the fear of being forgotten after death. The first verse, "Feel the counter you're in, see the goodbye bread, be safe, be safe" may be referencing the idea that time is constantly ticking away and the inevitability of death. The line "see the goodbye bread" could also be interpreted as a symbol of parting or saying goodbye.
The chorus, "When I go will you remember me? Over the ocean, across the sea, when I go will you remember me?" seems to be asking the listener if they will remember the singer after they have passed away. The repetition of this question drives home the fear of being forgotten and the need for some sort of legacy or lasting impact.
The second verse, "We will cry for him for now, are talking, we will not, we will not" introduces the idea of grief and mourning, possibly for someone who has already passed. The repetition of "we will not" could be a form of denial or an attempt to avoid thinking about death and loss.
Overall, the lyrics of Where Your Head Goes evoke a feeling of existential dread and the search for meaning and remembrance in the face of mortality.

Still quite possibly my favorite ty segall song ever. Just really heavy, stanky fuzz with a more psychedelic feel. so good, dark and trippy.

@Hovard Rust things can be dark and happy. Black Sabbath (I mean paranoid was originally a love song but it’s metal as fuck) and primus come to mind. Sympathy for the devil is dark theme but it wouldn’t sound like it necessarily

When I first heard of them a while back I was pretty excited to hear a band that sounded like pure rock and roll.I found out they were coming to town around that time to play here in Austin at La Zona Rosa with Thee Oh Sees, so I showed up early when the doors opened and there was hardly anyone there so I drank a beer and started gushing to some strangers about how great I thought they were and how I excited I was to see them. They said they were pretty excited too - but since they were new to me I had no idea what they looked like - and I was talking to the whole damn band. I felt like a fool when I saw them hit the stage but I was still pretty pumped and it was a hell of a show.

I usually never watch music videos because I feel like it ruins the imaginative aspect of music but Ty's videos are always so rad I can't help but check them out at least once
